Dan Diego 40 Posted August 8, 2014 Frickin' nice. Beautiful; country, and exactly how that bike should be ridden. But those trailer photos are just abhorrent... Your pal and fellow 990 enthusiast, RegularDan

Riggerdan 147 Posted August 9, 2014 Pretty amazing trip aimlessly meandering through the Rocky Mountains... Had a job at the Denver Convention Center in July & really wanted to ride some of Colorado, merging the 2 ideas generated some steam A good buddy from Blue Diamond made a big effort to get the bikes to Denver or it never would have happened. He flew in to Denver, I finished my job, we met (the bikes) at the REI parking lot, suited up and rode off into the hills No GPS tracks, no real plan other then to have fun, camp, and tackle some terrain on the big bikes that few might re-consider - And that we did The first night we found ourselves around 12k looking to spend the night around Kite Lake, with a storm approaching, we decided to drop down a little into the tree line And yes we had a "LOT" of rope between 2 riggers. So up went the tarps and down came the rain, hail & wind For a brief moment I realized how spoiled I am and thought "wow" this isn't the desert of California or the sandy beaches of Baja - I could die out here All the right decisions in gear purchases over the years and all the "seam sealing" really paid off in the first few hours of the trip Some gnarly trails, steep passes, tight switchbacks, big step ups (on a 800lbs bikes) MUD and some more mud, sweeeeeet single track and everything in-between no injuries, few mechanicals, nothing we couldn't handle.... all in all a really great trip - little over 1800 miles Along with a few more moments of "I can't believe what this bike can do"
