kkug 147 Posted October 13, 2013 Every time I get invited to go on a ride from my buddy Matt ( Rider 914 on ADV) I can,t pass it up.We have been on some epic trips,The TAT,CDT,CO,Death Valley,Bishop. All have been almost 90-99.9 percent off road.He spends months planing these rides and they are epic. His dad has taken Matt to Utah since he was riding a YZ 80 in Capital Reef !! His dad just lives for these trips and at 75 he he is a excellent rider. So the plan was hatched. We would camp out in a trailer, park it for a day or two and do loops. The areas we covered . Parowan,Panguitch North and South of Torry,Capital Reef North and South of Comb Ridge--North of Bluff North West of Monticello Canyon Rims area,Canyonlands The San Rafael Swell Area If you want maps go to the end of Matts pictures--he has the areas we rode. You want Pictures here you go. I took 226 ,Matt and his dad Bob took someting like 1333 ! Update----I cant get links to work. If you click on the pictures it will take you to the picture galleries. We left on a Thur nite at around 9:30 -10 pm and poof we were on the trail the next morning at around 9-9:30 AM .so easy. Everything went perfect-- out of three of us 1 blown fuse 1 flat -on the trailer 0 dirt samples Ken 0? dirt samples Matt 2-3 dirt samples Bob ( when he got spooked by a jeep club ) Weather ranged from hot to freezing. We dodged the rain. Speaking of rain -they really got a lot in the previous weeks. A lot of wash outs and it was Green like spring !! Good times Thanks Matt and Bob ! Some members invite me on rides and I have to turn them down so I can save vacation for big summer rides. Then I need to save time so I can go back to WI to visit my Mom. Its kind of difficult. We were very close .But as you know the trails have been changed to hiking and Mtn biking. Which is not a bad thing as I do both. Need a separate trip for that though. kkug 147 Posted October 14, 2013 We moved South a little bit west of Blanding. Stopped to look at a dry Lake Powell. When we started riding again we rode this epic trail. Can you see the route up to this point ? A little bit of sideslope riding ! Our campsite We tried to side to Scorups Cabin but the trail was washed out. Impossible to get around as this was a wilderness area. On the way back we stopped at Ute Cabin. Your Guess ? I want to camp here someday ! Do you see Shiprock NM in the distance ? Bears Ears ! Rocky trail back to camp. It come out in a corral.We had to open three gates to get out. Was cool. Well deserved reward ! Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

kkug 147 Posted October 25, 2013 Ok its time to add some more pictures. We moved camp to north west of Monticello and did a big loop. It was one of the longest and most tireing days we had. View from our campsite. Cave houses--kind of cool. Matt at the start of our challenge for the day. Down Down Down ! Wild country and trail ! Matt decided to use the bypass around this waterhole ( Who knows how deep ) At the bottom Ooops ! More Ooops ! We finally come out into the open .! At this point Bob was a bit tired so he rode to Moab and back to camp to meet us later in the day. Me and Matt soldiered on. More later . Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
kkug 147 Posted October 25, 2013 The River in Lockhart Basin . Yes it is the same river ! Saw some Mtn Bikers they were whooped. We were getting that way too. Gas it ! The trail just keep going and going ! Finaly getting out of the Canyonlands. Stoped here ! Aliens = six toes ! We had a nice ride back to camp and we met Bob on the road.
