And thanks to Bikeslut and blind for waiting for me as I took the time to practice gently setting my bike down and picking it back up. Hahaha just gotta remember no front brake... tntmo 910 Posted January 30, 2012 I kinda feel bad for doing a street ride today. Oh well, I didn't get a chance to get some dirt tires for my wife's new DR350 so I guess time was better spent with her as a passenger in the twisties. See you on the next one. paulmbowers 236 Posted January 30, 2012 Just so people are not scared by these rocky-hill photos on a "noob" ride- here's the story. We rode on the dirt road for a while first thing to help everyone assess themselves- very easy, simple noobish pace. We went out to the viewpoint, took the group shot, and then a few of us slightly more advanced than noobs decided to take a quick detour up an intermediate-or-better hillclimb. I THOUGHT I had explained the concept thoroughly, and headed up the hill. It was a two-parter- a challenging climb, a level-off, then a very challenging rocky marbley uphill you see in the images. I went up the first section, then watched DiVa get stuck partway up the next section. She came back down and I headed up, eventually struggling my way to the top. When I got there, I turned around and looked- apparently many folks thought this was part of the noob ride! I don't like to tell folks the terrain might be above their abilities, but I felt like I may have mislead people and didn't want to have mass carnage. Curtis has no fear and hit the trail pretty hard, fortunately (and I'm sure purposefully) holding up any more hill climbers. I came back down and dissuaded all but DiVa from heading up. So- no, it's not a noobish hill.
