Ride Report: 3 day Baja lobster run Thanksgiving weekend

Recommended Posts

Nice work. Looks like a BLAST. Any chance you tracked the trip via GPS? And any run-ins with Federalies?

Nice PMB...

Great to see some artistic flair in Baja.

sorry I missed that ride, hoping the next one has my name on it.

Friday morning 6 of us met at the border. Arnie, Paul, Rich, Kris, Erik and CiD.

Met Jim and Joe in Puerto Nuevo and after a lobster lunch we made our way thru Ensenada. Then the fun began.

Miles of fun dirt roads on our way to the coast.

As we got near the coast the marine layer set in.

The 950se is a fun bike in the deep sand.

This was the first time Joe had ridden off road. He did a great job on a borrowed 990 from Jim.

As we were leaving the beach the marine layer was lifting, which made for a beautiful ride down the coast.

We made our way to Coyote Cal's for the night.

Where I was lucky to get the Crow's Nest for the night.

The next morning we posed on the beach while Arnie jump started Kris's bike with a cool jump starter from Anti Gravity.

Then we wandered around thru some farmers fields for awhile.

And made our way back to the coast again.

P1050958_zps152d2f58.jpg

On our way to Valle T, Paul was attacked by a screaming hawk.

Arnie got the only flat of the trip and made quick work of the repair, while Paul and I helped in the usual way.

Arnie was good natured about the rental rate for my tire pump. $1 per PSI is the going rate in Mexico.

P1050981_zpsbeb59555.jpg

Valle T for tacos and Kug made an appearance.

P1050985_zps7d02d11e.jpg

After Valle T we made our way up to Mikes Sky Ranch for the night. No pics from me I was busy with margaritas.

The next morning we started back for the border.

Some of the guys were having a bit of trouble in the deep sand.

P1050996_zps165ca5ee.jpg

A quick stop at the Caselli monument. At this point we were riding backwards on a race course that guys were pre running for an up coming race.

P1050999_zps833b778e.jpg

A short stop at Dana's memorial before lunch at the saw mill.

One more off road trip for Joe thru a pine tree, then the race for the border.

Speed is your friend, it also why you see a bike up in a tree from time to time - WarLlama

Mile long line at the border but Arnie worked his magic and got us to the front of the line and thru the border in less than 15 minutes. A great ride with a fun bunch of guys.

WTF, someone stole all of Dana's tires?

Well...to say "stole" would be an assumption.

Certainly the tires are gone (save one street tire), but we have no evidence to make a conclusion they met with foul play. It's entirely possible they...well they could have...hmm.

I have no explanation. :tired:

The tire recycling people came but they only took the knobbies because it was a Tuesday, maybe.

Yes but I think Dana would be very happy with this. If he could give tires to those that need them he would.
