I used to take pictures for a little local newspaper called Southern California Moto Cross. Somewhere is a box with all kinds of racing shots in it from the early 70s. I just can't find that box. B) Otherwise, there'd be a bunch of shots of a lot of other racers as well.

Great Photos

Thanks for sharing

I lived in Village Park as that Encinitas track was surrounded and then built over (circa 1978 or 1979)

My first post here: Great memories...

I need to go find my DKW, Puch and AJS pics.

...and I can teach someone how to do a wicked whip.

Putting it all back down on the ground and riding away from it however may be a challenge.

Had both an Ace 90 and 100. Then moved to a series of Sachs and then DKWs.

Dad had a M/C shop in Santa Monica for about 30 years from the 40's to the mid-70s. :)

My only regret (if you can have one when your Dad had a shop full of bikes) was ironically as Dirt Dame had one, was a 125 Maico. ...which at the time didn't have many supporters, and not too many "key" riders campaigning them (relatively speaking).

I think I have a pic of me and Morris Malone (at a Norton-Villers Dealer's Event) coming off the drop-off jump coming back into the start area at Saddleback (both on Y4 Stormers).

For some reason I cant seem to find any pictures of me riding the bike (I can't find a lot of my old photos :D) , and this one is posted elsewhere. But I am going to post it here:

The seat was all rebuilt, the (Koni) shocks moved up, custom built aluminum air box to go with shock mods, rotary valve was cut, hand rolled up pipe.

Maybe it was.....thousands of years ago. The track was inland a few miles, but was mostly sand and sandstone bluffs. Village Park subdivision and commercial developement is on what used to be prime riding and racing land there.
