It's the dog days of summer heat here in San Diego and most people aren't riding.

 

So.. what is that Next Big Ride you've been contemplating?  What is that ride that keeps calling your name?

 

Adventure is how you define it - what's yours?

Saturday I rode the 950 to Vegas to a family gathering, and rode back yesterday. That was my latest 'big ride' haha.

@tntmo I planned around the hots, left at 5 am for the ride there, and back. Arrived same time, 10am when it was just starting to breach in to f-u hot zone haha.

I'm also planning on the Geico Adventure Rally and LAB-2-V in November.

There's also trials related trips, but different crowd

I'll be at the Geico Rally with @moto_rph and a friend coming down From Oregon, and Chris on his 890 ADV R, I think @Hawkins was also going to go, and bringing his RV and family, and @tntmo will be on the XS bike team if I am not mistaken - should be a blast, see you there.

Every year that Geico rally overlaps our baja tour!!! DANG it!

Wait... W38 is Oct. 29 and 30 (training), then Oct. 31 and Nov. 1st Baja Tour, isn't so?

Geico I believe is Nov. 3-5.

Training camp is Friday evening through end of Sunday.  Those going on to Baja, and arriving tour guests stay in Borrego Sunday evening together at a hotel and head south Monday morning for 5 days, returning to the U.S. Friday afternoon, about the time Geico is ending.  I'll be guiding baja with Dusty so Geico is out for me.

I think I'm registered for the training L2 + 2-day ride. How does it work? Is that the same group and I just go home earlier?

On the site I'm hearing Baja, Vegas, Foster's Freeze and LAB2V.  Is anybody planning a BDR ride?  How about a CDT ride?

I'll be doing training with West 38 Moto, coming home for Halloween with the kids, then packing up the land yacht and heading to the campground where the GEICO event is taking place. We got a spot there for the week. I'll have my Africa Twin and my wife's Himalayan on a trailer behind either the RV or the Suburban. That's a lot of riding in a 1-week span!

I did the Foster’s Freeze run twice already, so maybe it’s time to plan out the BDR ride Tim?

@tntmo we need pics of the ice cream!  Which BDR are you interested in?

 

@Covered in Dust has to be the SDAR leader of BDRs he has done NMBDR, AZBDR, IDBDR, COBDR and the UTBDR.

 

@paulmbowers, @kkug , @Oracle, @Riggerdan, @Dan Diego what BDR was your favorite and what do you recommend?

I have just got the single dipped cone the last few times, not really photo worthy.  I have not done any BDR yet, but I know you are itching to go so I will join you for whatever one you want to do.
