Crawdaddy 93 Posted October 20, 2010 This dumb-ass event is being put on by the same jokers I did the Kings of the West ride with.... http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=629965 Not in any rush and not looking for a radical fixer-upper (because I don't want to pump a lot of time/money into a project.....NOT out to restore a bike......just looking for a rideable junker that I'll likley flip after the Clowns ride) Calling Zenosan and SoCalHodaka.....need your expertise/knowledge as I look for the ideal "Clowns of the West" bike....is there a particular model you think would be best?......I definitely want a bike not a ATC......I'm thinking something between 100-200cc ......175cc seems to be a popular number.... Saw a few options on Craig's......trying to keep my buy-in price around $200 or less (need to save $$ for clown suit and Mr. Magoo horn ) This one looks pretty sweet (put another way, it runs ) and it's in my (cheap) price range: http://sandiego.craigslist.org/nsd/mcy/2002569042.html A few others..... http://sandiego.craigslist.org/csd/mcy/2007721971.html http://sandiego.craigslist.org/csd/mcy/2009506929.html http://sandiego.craigslist.org/csd/mcy/2012826268.html http://sandiego.craigslist.org/esd/mcy/2014968404.html
hoss314 0 Posted October 20, 2010 That looks like a lot of fun! I'll keep my eyes open........may be "IN" on this as well
Zenosan 2 Posted October 20, 2010 Of the examples you posted... I would go with the TT 250 Chris. Assuming it is in running condition of course. Some of these fixers are not worth the trouble to even get running. I would put a few more bucks into one that could actually finish the event. I might consider doing this event myself. I have one 79 Husky 390 that is Butt Ugly but is one of the fastest bikes I own.

Zenosan 2 Posted October 20, 2010 Something tells me that this could turn into a motorcycle version of a Demolition Derby.
Zenosan 2 Posted October 20, 2010 Changed my mind. I'd go with Hoss's XL185 (Inland EmPire CL). Good bike and very agile if you are not to big for it. I have an 81 XL185 in Page. Hauls me around very well.

tntmo 773 Posted October 20, 2010 My buddy has a Yamaha RT180 I got for him for FREE a few years ago, guess it's time to do the camo paint job I've been threatening him with. Is it "borrrowable"? I'm willing to be we can work out something....it needs an air cleaner element and I think it also needs an oil tank cap. I'll bet if you picked up those items, you could use it for as long as you needed it. Tires are dry rotted too, so some used ones would do the trick. Just give me a call or an email, I'll get in touch with him. Just texted him, he will sell it for $150 if you want it.
cmayer31 3 Posted October 20, 2010 Sounds like a great event! I have an 81-84 XR50 or ZR50 in a million pieces just taking up room in the garage. Might be time to put it back together!
Covered in Dust 155 Posted October 20, 2010 After reading about the Postman on Adventure Rider I've been itching to do a ride on my Trail 110. I may have to throw a litttle mud on it because it's pretty clean looking but other than that it should make a good bike for this ride. RogerTOWM 0 Posted October 20, 2010 Here is an idea for a bike. What do you guys think? Is it perfect for this ride?

Crawdaddy 93 Posted October 20, 2010 Chris.....is there an egine size limit to this ride? These are the only "requirements" posted thus far.....which is why I'm looking for 100-200cc...... "Everyone show up with whatever you want to ride, with the idea being it should be old, small cc's, rusty, dirty, funny and possibly have missile launchers and a bicycle horn. Extra points added for a poodle or rubber porn sheep that is dressed the same way as you."
Crawdaddy 93 Posted October 20, 2010 Just texted him, he will sell it for $150 if you want it. Doesn't run and has rotted tires .....borrowing/fixing sounds possible.....buying, and THEN fixing.......not so much

Zenosan 2 Posted October 21, 2010 Why too bad Craig? I had a 77 XL350. It was a great bike. Then they improved the suspension on the XL's substantially in 78. That is when I sold mine and got a 79 XL250s. Still have it. Love riding it.
