Nice vid, I've been doing wd40 clean and spray after for rust and just replace chain and sprockets at 100hrs. Never failed and all chains still within specs when replaced

I've never used WD40....it's a penetrant, can get thru the o-rings or x-rings and dilute the internal grease....so they say, lots of debate about it.

I'd just prefer not to use a penetrant.

same as an oil thread.....

when I go into full restore mode ---clean chain with maxima degreaser (red can) and grunge brush, wash off, spray with maxima spray lube (yellow can), wipe and basically dry off, spray on Spectro Z clean chain lube.

The usual most of the time, wash bike spray on Spectro Z clean go ride. 

Oil thread time. BTW I use Maxima products with only minor exceptions.

Guess I've been doing it wrong all these years. Being a neat freak, I've always used BelRay SuperClean because I really like that it doesn't make a mess but it looks like it's time to make a change. I can attest though that my chains do last and have minimal stretch using BelRay.

I can Also attest that my chains last over year with no maintenance other than a stiff brush. No collection of gunk. 100 hour chain and sprockets.

Back in the 70's one of the local pros in the desert would slather his chain in some really heavy grease and then hit it with a blow torch to melt it into the links. We used to soak 'em in gear oil and then hang them up to drip dry.

Now it's WD, chain lube and replace as necessary.
