stoke 2 Posted October 1, 2015 Man all you guys are early packers!!! I still need to pack, will do tonight. Did get the zipper replaced in my Held jacket to get ready for this though, bit of a disappointment that such an expensive jacket would have a fail like that after three years. Managed to get the gross plastic taste out of my MSR Dromedary bag using denture cleaning tablets, no joke. Worked a trick. Josh, I'll keep it on 70 cm call and Mission Hills till we get close and switch over to the SDAR freq from Mission Hills. Also, I second using the lower and last campsite for this group outing; more room, more private, better views and most important, WAY less nails laying around. Too many people burn pallets up in the fireplace and leave nails everywhere. Shooby!!! I didn't see your post earlier! Glad to have you back, although after this trip, you're going to be leaving us all in the dust. You ride that F800 like a BMX bike.
Dress4Less 162 Posted October 1, 2015 Loaded up From the postings does not seem to be much interest in this ride, lol! Red Dog - What is in the tubular container down low on the frame tube, behind the front tire, in front of the skid plate?
Oracle 195 Posted October 1, 2015 Loaded up From the postings does not seem to be much interest in this ride, lol! Red Dog - What is in the tubular container down low on the frame tube, behind the front tire, in front of the skid plate? Chris, it's an aftermarket turbo. It actually has quad turbo fans in there. Either that, or it's a tool and tube container made out of PVC pipe.

ThumperBob 21 Posted October 1, 2015 Just returned from a 3 week/4k mile trip.... this is the excuse I need to not wash the bike. Do yall think its an issue if the right fork has little oil remaining due to a leaky seal? Lurking.. Should be fine for this ride Shooby. You riding up with the main group or linking up with me and Stoke? I have a Doctor's appt for my eye surgery follow up Firday morning at 0900 that I forgot about. I will link up with Stoke and meet ya'll up at Santa Rosa. Just to clarify is the "fire place" the intended destination for that night? More than likely myself and stoke will be behind everyone else and will need to pave road it to the Truck Trail turn off to catch up. Maybe cut across from Warner Springs on dirt to Anza. Just FYI for those that prefer whiskey there is a liquor store in Anza down the road from the circle K that has a pretty good selection. Myself and stoke are both HAMS so can reach anyone with a HT that his up there on our way up incase the plan changes. Yup, I'll have the radio on 70cm calling frequency and whatever the SDAR frequency is you guys use. I think it's two meters if I recall correctly. KK6RWM. I'll be monitoring 70cm and Mission Hills Ted until we link up. SDAR frequency is 146.505 (unless someone wants to run 70cm instead) If the main group is going to be in Santa Ysebel at 09 they are going to beat us up there by a good margin. Just FYI for the guys on Big Bikes from the turn off for the fireplace to the fireplace can be somewhat challenging on a big bike if you are new to riding big bikes off road. There are a few little sections that can get (easy lay over) if you lose momentum. It's one of the first rides I did on the Strom and I was able to accomplish it with no issue so you should be good to go. This is a weird spot. Kind of a 90 degree turn with a few whoops spaced closed together. I lost momentum here and kind of did one of those slow motion lay overs. That's probably the worst spot and it's right below the fireplace. I am new to off road riding on my KLR. So I may have a problem with these situations. ??? Mikey777 44 Posted October 1, 2015 Bob: Don't worry about it. We'll help you along the way and will let you ride your own ride with safety in mind. Sweep always rides the pace of the slowest rider too, so nobody gets left behind.
TrophyHunter 15 Posted October 1, 2015 I've ridden with you, Bob....you'll be fine. Even if you walk around and someone else rides your bike - which I don't anticipate - we'll get everyone through. I haven't seen this spot but I'm game/a masochist/stoopid/a genius. No worries.

downs 1 Posted October 2, 2015 WAY less nails laying around. Too many people burn pallets up in the fireplace and leave nails everywhere. Those nails are from when the cabin burnt down I'm pretty sure.
