Afry 1 Posted November 4, 2014 The dirty: Great time, got searched pretty good at the border coming into Mexico by the military, the military check point south of RSV on Compadre is also back and we were stopped there as well but it was closed on Sunday. Supposed to get a bunch of rain Friday night but only got a little on Sat and then a bit more on Sat night/sunday. We set up our rides to run in the same direction as the Baja 1000 prerunners but only saw one group. Hooked up with Todd Whiteside and 3 friends from the north, Rich and Rob from Riverside and Larry from WA. 2 SE's, a Husa 570, well prepped dr650 and KLR made for quite the mix. First night at Rancho Santa Veronica for quick stop to start the trip after working half day Thursday. Larry on his Baja Rally (cancelled last minute due to work) prepped 570 at RSV what a beautiful bike! Met a group guys from AZ to ride with Baja Bob who has cut and maintains a lot of single track in the area. We rode with them later guiding them to Mikes from Laguna Hanson. Here is a rest stop at the bottom of the Wine Rd. Dana's memorial RIP Hit some agua on the trails Todd doing some bushwhackin! Token MSR photo After Mikes we took the Wine road to San Vicente then on past Coyote Cals to Horsepower Ranch. Nothing better then riding the coast of Baja! Todd at HP Ranch - this place is our favorite - just wish it was more off the beaten path No dust for Sunday's ride home on the Compadre trail! Baja!
Goofy Footer 539 Posted November 4, 2014 Nice report, I hope to get on a Baja Adventure Riders ride soon. Did you take old race couurse from Dana's to Valle T? Which route did you take from Santo Tomas to Horsepower? Getting through Ensenada can be hectic! Horsepower was the second night rest stop on the Baja Rally (after race day one - the night of tech day & registration was at the San Nic Hotel)

Horsepower was the second night rest stop on the Baja Rally (after race day one - the night of tech day & registration was at the San Nic Hotel) Who are Baja Adventure Riders? Not sure about the crossover after Dana's - it was about halfway between Ramona's and Hwy 3. We passed a really nice ranch with 2 very nice brick and wood small 2 story homes then a nice grassy valley. We came out on the trail that just parallels Hwy 3 and takes you past KC memorial. From Santo Tomas we slabbed it making up for lost time and dreaming of a HP Ranch margarita. We also got turned back taking the shortcut at the border when crossing back home. There was a Federally dude with an attitude who told us to go back and don't lane split, luckily the wait was short.

I assume this was at Tecate.
Afry 1 Posted November 4, 2014 Yes Tecate, he was only there for a while and I have a feeling it's no problem when it's just the military guys there.
