Kelly, I'll try to be there if I'm in town. Should be a good time. Maybe since we'll be all geared up, plan a ride after? Please advise time and exact address when known.

Tentatively "in."

Did something similar with another bike group not too long ago.

Dave Stall is a super good dude. Ask him in advance for copies of the video of one of our guys doing wheelies in the KUSI back lot...

I'll have most of the day free, so am probably going to take the 950 SE on a fairly long and brisk ride after this is over. Anyone else up for this?

I agree it is a better image than a bunch of sloppy, hairy guys showing up... Kato, maybe you could represent the International market also.

Oui but im sloppy and hairy, and so is my bike plus noisy

Talked to Dave Stall today (guy who does the show).

He said the more women riders who show up the better.

Sunday June 9th - 7am at KUSI Studio

4575 View ridge, 92123

Hope we have a bunch of people show up....u may even be asked some questions.

Diane, Mimi, Deb, Christi, warp9, Briana... I'm sure there are more

I agree it is a better image than a bunch of sloppy, hairy guys showing up... Kato, maybe you could represent the International market also.

Sounds like mostly biggish bikes going, so maybe I'll bring my DRZ instead... anybody live nearby so I can unload it from my truck? :torch:/>/>

I'll see if I can convince the Mistress to also go, and I'm not hairy. I'm all shaved and sexy-like.

Cristina and I may make it.

Plated CR 500 or 450X for me.

Non plated CRF 150 F for Cristina, is that O.K.

Craig.

Not really my business, but if its about street legal dirt bikes, and adventure bikes and the types of people that ride them and what do they do with them....

You and Christina two up on the mighty hard porn 685L adventure bike with a surf board on the side and side bags would make quite a statement; more than a non-street legal dirt bike

Just my two cents-

OK, Dave Stall is looking forward to seeing us.

I looked all through this thread for info on the substance of what this interview is all about.......didn't find anything......so, what's the agenda?......is it just a loose discussion on "what is SDAR/Dualsport?" ......"Where do you ride in San Diego?"......."Describe the average Dualsport rider in SDAR"........what's the difference between Dualsport and Adventure Riding?.....or (?)

i was wondering the same thing

I was thinking it would be cool to have a full spectrum of bike choices for "adventure riding" and "dual sporting"...But, they will spin it however they want

I deal with the media fairly often, and what they normally do is get the group together and just chat: the GOOD reporters find a way to understand the group and it's purpose, then spin a story around that (yeah- they miss the point, fabricate, and make errors at times, but the intent is good)... if they're good, they can make OUR passion resonate with the most number of viewers

Dave Stall seems to be THAT kind of guy; he won't paint us in anything but a favorable light

I can't be there, but it would be a very good idea to have some talking points worked out in advance. You have a great opportunity here to do some good for motorcycling, using terms like "shared use" and "responsiblity". Resist all temptation to showboat (Schwinndry.gif), talk about families and great outdoors.

Contradict all the built-up negative ideas people have about riding. If you have a loud bike, keep it home. If your bike is running while they're live, idle it only- keep it very quiet.

Have something in mind to say- rehearse it over and over, then deliver the line slowly and carefully- do not rush.

Do not follow all requests- if they ask you to all line up and do a wheelie out of the parking lot, just don't do it.

We have a minor crisis out in Ocotillo, and the more positive message we can push out regarding "our responsibilities as shared tenants of our lands" the better. Give voters a glimpse of the people that will be shut out of our lands if the greenies have their way. It's easy to vote against drunken quad riders, and if voters believe that's all that will lose, they won't worry about it. But if voters see responsible, rational peers- people with whom they can relate and understand, they'll think a little more before voting.
