dsfox 0 Posted September 3, 2012 Perfect weather. AWESOME Group of 15 riders/friends....I think everyone had a great time. I enjoyed my new trailer. Dual sport people are such an amazing group of quality people that never cease to amaze me and as always Big Bear and the Coon Cabin trip are always alot of fun......I expect we will continue the tradition every year...Thanks to everyone who made it a great weekend for me.....here's some pics.... todd and shannon missed the pic....and last but not least, missing are johnnybags and tracy, down the road at a yellow post....who missed the picture.... jason and dr. j on saturdays ride... We met John, tracy, todd and shannon on the trail.... LUNCH AT 7 OAKS... sunrise and moon set at coon cabin....the view from the camp is amazing...especially of palm springs at night....we had a full moon along with our perfect weather.... dsfox 0 Posted September 3, 2012 Shannon and I chose to hike on sunday........THIS is the view across the abyss from coon cabin....so we wanted to get to the PEAK on the far left of the photo....near the dead tree.....so we set out on an adventure.. We followed the pacific crest trail for about 1 mile of our almost 3 mile hike...(when it headed too far west, we bushwacked our way to our destination....) GREAT VIEW OF PALM SPRINGS, SAN JACINTO AND SAN GORGONIA PEAKS to the south.... WE MADE IT....notice the dead tree?......we hiked about 3 miles....most with no trail...but it was a great time...and a great work out... The VIEW of coon cabin camp FROM the cliff on the other side... some metate's at the top... THE SLOPE DOWN...back to the cabin.. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

My bike went from this, after a mechanical issue on July 4th, to trail ready in time for this trip. The local connection... zracing 0 Posted September 4, 2012 Thank you to DSFox for setting up this great event!! We had a great time riding in Big Bear for the first time. It was nice to meet/seeing everyone at the 3rd annual Coon Cabin adventure run. Many thanks to Johnnybags and Tracy for the Tour de Big Bear. Saturday morning we ventured in town for a nice brunch at the teddy bear. The views are great everywhere up there. Along the way Shannon picked up a nail. Thanks again to Johnnybags for the assistance with the tube repair. This was actually my first trail side tube change. We managed to fix it up in about 25 minutes. Lights of the desert. poboyblues 0 Posted September 4, 2012 Great trip report! Love Big Bear. I grew up in Big Bear, and recognize so much of where you were. Brings back memories for sure. You were all over that valley for sure, from north to south, east and west. Skyline Rd. is a good one and spent many summer nights up there with friends. Looks to me you were on that road for a bit. wonderwoman 0 Posted September 6, 2012 Beezzz and I really enjoyed this trip. We stayed an extra day, we thought it would rain, but it was just a tease. We think of it as our Anniversary trip now! What better thing to do for your 25th than to go camping and motorcycle riding with the love of your life. Thanks Todd and Greta for sharing your anniversary too. It was great to meet some new people this year. You know, except that Lisa = whore. You all know who I'm talking about Thank you Deb for everything, and the hiking stove for coffee in the morning the extra day we stayed. Truly a great extended weekend. And Steve, you saved the trip with your firepit, it's not the same without a campfire. Maybe Beezzz can post some of our pics later, I don't know how to convert them to include them here.
