CORE website has been launched!

Recommended Posts

Launched the CORE website last night: http://www.CrawdadOffRoadEvents.com

First thing on the calendar is the SDAR desert dash ;):D

We've been working very hard on this website for quite a while and we still have a little work to do (thanks Roger, Erick, Paul, Ted, and a host of others, for your help to date) .

Please do us a favor:

- visit the CORE website - .......have a look around........test the links......."Join the Club" (left margin)

I'd also like to get your feedback on the look/feel of the website............no forum, this is a service (and eventually product) based website.....we'll also be sending regular electronic mailings to all registered club members with GPS tips/tricks, upcoming event info, etc., etc....

Let's Ride!

I'm in! I noticed that when I clicked on the link in the activation email that the screen came up with my email address in the user name field instead of my user name.

Thanks and good luck with it!

Unfortunately that's a function of your browser settings and not the site. Let us know if you see any other oddities.

I click on the link and the first thing I see is a picture with a bunch of happy riders smiling which in turn made me smile. The site looks great, congrats on getting it together!!!

To Chris and all who put this site together: Awesome job, very well done. I clicked around a bit and registered for the Bar Ten Ride. Everything worked well and was easy to use.

Just reached first milestone of 100 CORE Club members (and climbing) ~24hrs after site launch.

Thanks for the support!

Please spread the word and help me reach the next milestone of my first 500 members!

Wayne, glad to hear your registration process went smoothly.......a major take away from the DSM Poll was that folks want online registration/payment for events......

See most of you next weekend at The Dash!

Guess who!

So what's wrong with checks or real money?

Had my credit card hacked from an online purchase a while back Chris.

Confirmed my Luddite bias.

Pfft.

Had my bike stolen a month ago, too. Does that mean I shouldn't ride anymore?

Revamped Logo AGAIN......I think we're finally there.....better "N" inside tire, better pointer on either side of "N", registered trademark symbol added.....want to make sure we get it right before we print up any literature/apparel.

Which way is North?

Towards the magnet...

...and the 'right' side up N.

Which way is North?

Towards the magnet...

...or away from the magnet

Answer:

A compass needle is a magnet (a weak one), and it tends to line up

in such a way as to point its "north pole" towards the

North Pole of the planet. Why? Because the Earth is also a

magnet! It's filled with a dense iron core and so it gives off

a magnetic field. To investigate this, get two bar magnets,

and a compass. Notice that the compass points north. Now, take

one of the bar mangnets and slowly move it near the compass. You

will see the compass needle "follow" the magnet. Since the bar

magnet is close up, the needle "feels" the magnetism of the

bar more strongly than that of the Earth. Now, take the bar

magnet away and watch it point north again.

Put the compass aside and play with the two bar magnets. Notice that

when you bring the two poles together which are the same ((N-N or

S-S) you get a different result than if you bring them together

N-S or S-N. Now, try laying one magnet on the table. Take the

other magnet anduse it to "move" the first magnet the same way

you moved the compass needle, by waving it nearby and using the

magnetic force to move it without the two magnets actually touching

each other (you need good, strong magnets - or light ones - to do

this. Why?).

Hope this helps answer your question....the Earth is a giant magnet,

(this is because of the molten iron core at the Earth's center) and thus

it rotates light magnets to point at its north pole.

C-Daddy signing off :)

I understand the theory

All I was getting at was the 180 degree ambiguity of the Logo. A Capital N to the first approximation is also symmetric to 180 degree rotation.

Although the one on the logo is slightly asymmetric and thus does in fact define a single direction.
