Anyone try these boots/Company?

Recommended Posts

I talked with Brian at AtomicMoto about them. He liked them at the time and might be good to talk with. I went with the Gaerne ADV boot as the Forma was between it and my Gaerne SG-10's on protection.

Brian is straight forward to talk to and they have an easy return policy if things don't fit.

No they look like foot breakers - I broke my foot a year ago with a similar boot in a low speed tip over. Not enough ankle and sole (Metatarsal) protection. Basically if you can walk in a non mechanical hinged boot without looking like a robot they are not good enough.

but check this link Tommy, better boot for less from a good vendor with good honest reviews:

I have a pair of their adventure touring boots, and used to have a pair of their Raptor MX boots. They make good quality boots. Like everybody else, they make lower priced entry level boots with less protection and features, and they make really nice high end boots with all the bells and whistles. You get what you pay for.

+1 on these Tommy,,, I have them and love them. Really solid and comfortable. The hinge makes a huge difference in comfort.

It may be cheaper to buy the best boots and buy them only once. I've been wearing the same pair of Sidi Crossfires for 8 years now, and they hardly show any wear, and they have protected me in many accidents, all while being insanely comfortable. I tried all the other high end boots and for me, nothing else came close. I've broken my ankle in lesser boots, so I believe in wearing the best. Most parts on it are replaceable with screws, in case you tear anything off them or wear anything out.

Depends on the riding i am doing.. If it is MX or harder dual sporting, i sacrifice a little flexibility and comfort for protection and wear these:

But if i am doing a long trip, and taking the GS out, or doing a chill ride, i wear these:

I originally bought them in prep for Alaska trip, and preparing for rain.

I've owned dozen of different types of boots, and can say without a doubt, the Toucans are the most comfortable boots i have EVER own/worn, and they offer great (but less than Crossfire) protection.

We did a 1000 mile central coast adventure last year, and the only time i took them off was to sleep, they were THAT comfortable.

Back to original topic. I don't know anyone running THOSE Formas, but a road race friend (those dudes hemmorage cash) swears by the Formas

My .02

I am just about to buy new boots so this discussion caught my attention. I think I am sold on the Forma TX, which I never heard of before. Checked out reviews on various sites and could not find anything but good reviews. Gonna try the Enduro sole version. Seems to fit my riding/walking needs.

For anyone considering Forma Boots I just got incredible service from them.

My Predators needed a lot of work. I really beat them up in the last 2 years.  Toe caps, straps, ankle pivot. I was going to replace them because I thought I ordered the cheap boots but they shipped me their top notch boots so I thought I should keep them a little longer. I contacted the sales department and asked about replacement parts and if I could stop into the warehouse to pick them up. They agreed and on a trip through LA I stopped into the Torrance, CA US distribution center. I asked for help replacing the ankle pivot because the old style has a proprietary fitting. To my surprise they repaired them, completely, while I waited. Took about 45 minutes and they replaced parts I didn't even ask for and charged me for the toe caps and two straps, $23. Very impressed with the service. I bought the Formas after Alpinestars quality went to shirt and the customer service was blah. Forma has a long time customer.

I've been using Sidi Discorer for years now....same pair since 2008....super comfortable...enough protection for Adventure Riding, unless you're doing gnarly stuff.

I can also hike in them if necessary.

After having smacked my feet on rocks, had my bike land on my lower leg/foot etc., I am glad I went with a more motocross bias boot.
