About the spammer. This spam has turned up on another website that I am an administrator on. What happens is that the spammer picks an account that hasn't been used in a while, then hacks that account to spam the website. The spammer may take up to a dozen or more inactive accounts and use them to spam. the software on the other forum let me figure out how to ban just the IP address, and not the user by their original IP address. So in that case, I was able to ban just the spammer's IP while leaving the account intact. And yes, it was just this week, and yes, it was the same spam message. So it is going around. The spammer is in some durned eastern European country. Occassionally, I check my own IP addresses and make sure nothing new has shown up on my account.

This weekend I shall briefly look to the East, with tear in my eye, and my hand over my heart - as I plate food for in-laws and family, knowing others are in the desert having adventures

Hey Jaja, thank you so much for sharing your wisdom and adding to my thread post! Your advice is greatly appreciated. I'm glad you're taking steps to stay safe while enjoying your solo rides. I'd also like to extend an invitation to other riders out there to join in this desert adventure near the S2 highway. It's always more fun to have company and I'm sure we'll have a blast exploring together. If anyone else is interested, please feel free to share your plans and join the conversation in the forum. Let's make the most of this beautiful weather! 🐳. Ill look up the word satire. But thankyou and your welcome. Shutterev : you just got points thankyou for catching that , hope to see you soon.

Hello there SDAR! First off I want to say thanks for this group and the opportunity to be involved. A little reading here quickly reveals an inviting family of good folks. 👍 My name is Jason and I live in La Mesa. Im 51 and have been riding off and on for years. Trails as a kid and mostly street afterwards. I found this group a couple years ago but have regrettably never engaged. Life events, injuries, work, etc. Plus I got a bit hooked on riding canyons, so time got away from me again.. but I'm back! I own a KTM 790R, a Suz DR350 and a TRX250R along with some street stuff. I enjoy most types of riding and am looking forward to meeting other likeminded locals to share in the hobby with. I'm usually up for most types of riding, dirt or street. I've not really enjoyed my ADV yet due to solo riding risks so Im hoping to change that also. I can often times ride mid-week and prefer it, but weekends work too. I'm happy to be here 😁 Hope to see ya soon! Jason

Engine is all buttoned up...but will open clutch cover for inspection and dump gearbox oil for Redline 80W Synthetic. Needs Evans non-aqueous coolant fill up (bullet proof). Needs a finish job on the Head and Tail light connections. Graphics are all in place with exception of 1997 World Enduro RED number plate back grounds and some homage to Farioli KTM Race bikes of the era. Ignition notes after a full clean up of the system she makes good spark , even with the cracked OEM Kokusan CDI unit, but since I payed for an all new unit the new one is installed. Photo shows the old unit with fork leg impact damage. Carb went on easy and is jetted per FMF spec. new vent hose kit installed. She is very close now, best news is, we have good compression and spark!! we just need fuel, Motorex at Euro style 2% Miscela (50:1) . Need a few more hoses as well, fuel line and tank vent hose. I have on the shelf new rear Shinko 216MX FIM 140/80-18 and an almost new Michelin Enduro Medium FIM 90/90-21 tire and some perfect used Mousses and pieces if required ready to install. Chain appears good and I will clean and reinstall it. Debut will be soon, most likely at local trail zone. Before I reinstalled the rear linkage I fully lubed it with Maxima grease, so that's dialed, just need a little exterior brushing on the links to clean them up from old dirt and oil stains

Thanks...that was weird. That user signed up way back in 2017 and had no posts...and all of a sudden we get a spam post from it. Anyway, thanks for the heads up, I banned the name and IP addresses.

When you go solo riding, follow the comments sense rule. Let some one know, where, when, how long you go. Have a Spot or similar and you can post it here in the forum. There is a section for this here.

Don't feel old, I did the math once, long ago when I worked and had spare time. Average age in SDAR was 46. Welcome. DR 350, solid. Cheers

Welcome man! My first dual sport was a 1997 DR350. Absolutely loved that bike. I had CR500 forks on it and a laundry list of other mods and I put 25K miles on it in 1.5 years.

^^^ see, that's the thing. People say "I don't need all that high level stuff because I don't ride like you". And there in lies the rub. My worst injuries all happened in first gear. My broken clavicle happened at 1 mph, slipping the clutch in first gear on a smooth grass lawn. Yet, years ago I T-boned a deer in Idaho at about 50mph. Totaled the bike and killed the deer. Walked away from it with hardly a scratch. Go figure.
