Won't be able to host this time, but think this is a really great service to the local riding community. If we can't find a property to host it at, what about turning it into a ride for the students, and meeting in a open space somewhere for 'field training'? Could be somewhere near a route we all ride, open space with dirt and some privacy so the class can go on before it gets too-too hot? We have been off the bikes other than me helping a friend move some harleys since last year, and have to continue to take a knee for a bit here otherwise we'd host. To anyone that is considering hosting, it was a good group, good class, and free pizza! haha.

rabaconda - is there anyone here that owns one
shutterrev replied to DSM8's topic in Open Discussion
I sold my Rab dirt changer after being used many many times great changer, but sold for the street one since the 690 is stupid easy with just a bucket. The street changer scoops the Ducati's tires off, or big ADV's easier too - alloy, or spoke, different method for each but very effective. For either changer if you have a hub rear, you'll need an adapter. They are very well made products. -

Yes, as mentioned, where the roads split, up by the radio tower.

Border 2 Fire is over 4,250 acres now from the initial 120 acres , the photo below was when it was only around 228 Acres in size yesterday, with a 330mm lens from the back porch. We are far away, no danger, but the fire looks to have started on Otay Mtn Truck Trail near the divide in the road up by radio tower, etc.

Geico Adventure Rally, who is doing it this year?
shutterrev replied to Pokey151's topic in Open Discussion
6th year, always a good time, good to see other local riders out there hunting points including @padu 🤙🏻 I had my lifetime best friend from back home in Oregon come down and visit, he has come down before and used Tom’s bike(s) - thanks Tom, this year he used my Wife’s KLX300 and we had a blast, it’s always fun to help someone get to know the desert Here’s a mashup of GoPro clips: -

shutterrev replied to KTMrad's topic in Local Happenings at Other Shops & Clubs - Motorcycle Only
Met Geoff many times at the dealership when we had BMW's, was sorry to hear he passed away. Won't be able to make the ride but it's nice that it's happening 👍 -
Any experience with Motul 7100 ester based oil?
shutterrev replied to bajadog's topic in General Maintenance
For what it’s worth, that’s what I run in the Multistrada 950’s if I’m the one putting oil in. I’ve trusted Motul for a long time, ran this stuff in my 800GSA, and used to run 300v in my GSX-R 750 and it was always running well. -

***Update: Looks like I was wrong and they fixed it and the gates are open, awesome 🤙🏻 They will never fix it, I mean I hope they do, but it's been closed a long time already. I've been up and down that thing a hundred times (when gates open) and have never seen one ranger. -

As for the gate, i've been to black mtn several times since the rain and yes gates were all closed. Both sides. I'm going to give it a shot Saturday am and well see. -

I'd guess because he just got the 450, and it's likely a lot of fun to ride? -

Help to Install SDAR SSL Certificate
shutterrev replied to KTMrad's topic in Website Information and/or Problems
I looked up the domain host, seems it is indeed GoDaddy - with that in mind @DSM8 is correct, you can just add SSL as a product and GoDaddy will autohandle it for the length of time you pay for, most hosting platforms will for a fee and then you won't have to meddle with it. My site it also on GoDaddy and I don't have to install SSL or deal with it any more, which is nice. -
Man I need more PTO. I'm perpetually peanut butter and Jealous. Have a blast!

KTM 1190 with MT truck tires
shutterrev replied to tntmo's topic in A Forum for GENERAL PHOTOS & Videos
Maybe not the new much more spartan 900gs though - that thing seems like a "finally they listened" GS, at least for the size of ADV bikes I look at 🤘 -
Well I just fixed a broken subframe mount on my 690, not bad for 17k miles of tomfoolery (no offense Tom), and the unlit tail light is now no longer ticket-worthy. I may be in for a Black Mountain, etc shakedown run this weekend if i can get the bike buttoned up before then. Just make sure to wait for me on my big flabby 690 lol. I started dirt riding on big ADV bikes a few years ago, then went what I thought was skinny with the 690, now everyone I ride with is showing up to dirt with trailered 500's or smaller, may need to go for a 450RL, or 500ish skinny one of these days, I just can't seem to want to let go of the 690 as it's road manners are too fun.

on any sunday Lost Valley + High Point / Palomar Divide
shutterrev posted a topic in 1 to 3 Day Ride Write-Ups, Stories and Photos
@moto_rph officially became a year older yesterday, and wanted to get a ride in before family festivities, so we met up at Warner Springs Gliderport, and ran Lost Valley ANd High point TT / Palomar divide. Bikes and riders were @moto_rph on his 500, Kyle on his 701, Justin on a 500, Myself on the 690, and @J5ive on his XR650L. Lost valley has a lot of new rain ruts of any and all angles, and a couple fun puddles to splash through, High Point TT is extra fun right now, the rain has made some of the ascent a bit more 'textured' than years past, it's more like upper Black Mtn right now.
