tntmo 903 Posted January 6, 2009 It sounds like a few people are starting out this year with mechanical issues. It's good to be a part of this group because otherwise I might feel like I was the only one with really bad luck so far. Here's my list of broken stuff....anyone want to compare? 1: Dog broke his foot due to a kid stepping on it! 2: Front loader washing machine bearings went out. They wanted $750 to fix it, I ordered some bearings online for $40. 3: Water heater was only putting out about 5 minutes of hot water, I didn't know what a dip tube was until yesterday. 4: RV fan clutch locked up. 5: I knocked my wifes curling iron off the sink, broke the end off it. I'm hoping the rest of the year isn't like this!

PastaPilot 17 Posted January 6, 2009 It sounds like a few people are starting out this year with mechanical issues. I believe it is a secret plan of the Bush administration to revitalize the economy by sending the secret service out to sabotage the public's personal items and property. Thus continuing the super genius idea to bolster the economy by increasing consumer spending/debt.

This is a dip tube. http://www.masterplumber.net/electricwh/dip_tube.htm If your water heater is putting out less hot water than it used to, check it out. It cost $5 at a plumbing supply store. tntmo 903 Posted January 7, 2009 I guess I can't complain too much, so far everything except for the dog's foot has been fixed. I heard some strange noises coming from my furnace this morning though.
Crawdaddy 96 Posted January 7, 2009 I guess I can't complain too much, so far everything except for the dog's foot has been fixed. I heard some strange noises coming from my furnace this morning though. So far in 2009: (1) My home furnance crapped out (Remember the movie "Christmas Story" when the father (Darren McGavin) walks down the stairs mumbling/cursing about the furnace .....well.....I can neither confirm nor deny that a similar scenario *may* have played out that way at my house .....all better now ) (2) Batteries on Toybox and 520 are toast...... (3) Generator isn't working on my Toybox (might be due to low cranking amps from weak batteries.....hopefully) How bout a few words from Dylan (and later Kenny Wayne Sheppard) on this very subject..... Broken lines, broken strings, Broken threads, broken springs, Broken idols, broken heads, People sleeping in broken beds. Ain't no use jiving Ain't no use joking Everything is broken. Broken bottles, broken plates, Broken switches, broken gates, Broken dishes, broken parts, Streets are filled with broken hearts. Broken words never meant to be spoken, Everything is broken. Bridge: Seem like every time you stop and turn around Something else just hit the ground Broken cutters, broken saws, Broken buckles, broken laws, Broken bodies, broken bones, Broken voices on broken phones. Take a deep breath, feel like you're chokin', Everything is broken. Bridge: Every time you leave and go off someplace Things fall to pieces in my face Broken hands on broken ploughs, Broken treaties, broken vows, Broken pipes, broken tools, People bending broken rules. Hound dog howling, bull frog croaking, Everything is broken.
tntmo 903 Posted January 7, 2009 How bout a few words from Dylan (and later Kenny Wayne Sheppard) on this very subject..... That was the inspiration to the title of this post, at least the KWS version of it since I don't know if I've heard the Dylan one. Good call!

Strega 0 Posted January 7, 2009 Yesterday a child came out to wonder Caught a dragonfly inside a jar Fearful when the sky was full of thunder And tearful at the falling of a star Then the child moved ten times round the seasons Skated over ten clear frozen streams Words like, when youre older, must appease him And promises of someday make his dreams And the seasons they go round and round And the painted ponies go up and dawn Were captive on the carousel of time We cant return we con only look behind From where we came And go round and round and round In the circle game. Sixteen springs and sixteen summers gone now Cartwheels turn to car wheels thru the town And they tell him, Take your time, it wont be long now Till you drag your feet to slow the circles down And the seasons they go round and round And the painted ponies go up and dawn Were captive on the carousel of time We cant return we can only look behind From where we came And go round and round and round In the circle game So the years spin by and now the boy is twenty Though his dreams have lost some grandeur Coming true Therell be new dreams, maybe better dreams and plenty Before the last revolving year is through. And the seasons they go round and round And the painted ponies go up and down Were captive on the carousel of time We cant return, we can only look behind From where we came And go round and round and round In the circle game

unclecameron 0 Posted January 8, 2009 have to change the clutch on the piggie, the shop figures something like 5 shop hours, this translates into a weekend for me...since I lack the appropriate thingamaheister tool set from BMW. You have to pull the whole back of the bike apart to get to the transmission, which you then have to pull where it has a clutch like a car complete with thowout bearings, pressure plates, etc. I've been putting it off, but this clutch has lasted 35K not so smooth miles since she was new in '05, by any standard the clutch has no right to still be alive They say you can get some supermeister kevlar clutch that will last longer, but that's a $600 bill for the clutch disc, at that rate, I'll stick with stock I've been putting the job off for about 6 months, but it's getting pretty bad, especially 2-up on pavement acceleration.
