1 night moto camp in the woods?

Recommended Posts

Looking to do just an overnight Moto camp. Dispersed camping preferred. I was looking at Holcom valley or even Clark's yellow post. But yellow post doesn't have much in the way of trees.

Anybody have a suggestion?

Thanks!

Thomas Mountain has it all. It's close, temps will be lower, it's wooded and has dispersed camping.

Thomas Mtn is a great suggestion.

Take a look at Google maps, north of Idylwild in the Black mountain area.  There are an awful lot of great options there.  Should be a lot cooler up there and the views are fantastic.

you can also look into the Angeles forest area if willing to go a little further there are some very neat spots behind wrightwood so you can camp but be close enough to town for dinner etc if wanted.

Thomas Mountain is good....but Santa Rosa is even better. I led a couple of Santa Rosa overnights for SDAR a few years back and everyone always had a good time.

I’m intrigued too. If you maps.google Santa Rosa mountains, it appears to be quite a large area. Next to Santa Rosa wilderness. Enter near Anza
id like to take a day ride out and back to check it out sometime.

I know the way up Santa Rosa Mountain, it's a dirt road off the 74 heading towards Palm Desert. I was just up there 2 months ago.

Here are some pix from the up there.

I remember a few of the posted camp trips up there, been wanting to put one together again.  I have not camped up there yet, so it's on my radar.

That pic Randy posted of Doc is where I usually set up my tent. It's a perfect spot for 10 riders or so. Everyone can spread out their tents and have a central hang out area. I'm more than happy to share tracks with any member here. It's a great one-nighter trip from Ramona and back. I'd offer to lead a ride but my calendar is so full with coaching water polo every evening, working, road-tripping with my son to colleges across the country for the next three months, and the Nor Cal BDR in a couple of weeks.

Shoots, I just decided to upload the track from Ramona to Santa Rosa for anyone that wants to load it. See link under my sig.

Camped Santa Rosa multiple times, super cool spot

I always got it on a 20+mph windy night though
