spazegun2213 36 Posted October 31, 2022 Alright, I figured it was going to happen sometime and sure enough I blew the seals in one of the fork tubes in the last outing. Between my lack of skills, and the relative softness of the forks I figured it was going to happen. So I'm looking for a local shop to talk to about suspension upgrades for my '15 Tiger xrx. Does anyone have recommendations for ADV/offroad bikes?
Goofy Footer 548 Posted October 31, 2022 A lot of people (including myself) use Suspension 101 in Alpine - the owner is George Spinali also known as @Suspenders on the site https://www.suspension101.com/

spazegun2213 36 Posted April 3, 2023 Alright, well it wasn't for the tiger, but I did take the rear shock off the 500 to be rebuilt by George at Suspension 101. While Cooper actually did the work (you rock BTW) I'm SUPER satisfied with the whole experience. I was trying to make a training class this last weekend and they fit me in without a problem. Because of this and george talking me through a few things I'll be using them again for the forks with some new springs. Thanks guys!
DSM8 390 Posted April 4, 2023 George is the only person I will use from now on as long as he is in business. I have had stuff done by Precision Concepts Super Plush Cogent Dynamics Another guy I dont recall that was up at the top of the grape vine. They all did the full boat service and hands down George delivers a result they all failed to come close too. To say it was transformative in how the bikes ride is an understatement, simply put EVERY bike of mine he has worked on and every one of them have been 1000% better for the experience in performance and all around handling. HE might cost a little bit more but you get exactly what you are paying for and then some. As of now I think he has done a total 5 bikes for me over the last 5 years, some more than once trying to get it right for me.

My springs are being wound and shipped to George, full "Gobbler Pro Build" is the plan for the 690 when the parts come in. I'm a non-petite human at 6'5" and 275, I have never had the suspension done on any bike I have owned, have just made it work with what I had, so... I can not wait to experience the difference
shutterrev 511 Posted April 4, 2023 Also wanted to add that all suspension gurus seem to be extremely busy season right now, also contacted a Ducati suspension specialist for my wife's bike and can't even schedule a job right now, so busy - good for them! I mean have him do the Ducati as well if he works on those bikes, unless your implying thats already in the works.
shutterrev 511 Posted April 4, 2023 Just now, DSM8 said: I mean have him do the Ducati as well if he works on those bikes, unless your implying thats already in the works. I may have him do it, because it's a relatively uncommon bike to be brought to him I think he would have to do some R&D, totally understandable, so will need to wait. amgems 79 Posted April 8, 2023 (edited) George is great. There is also another guy in North County. Rudy at Pro-Prept. Very good! It's been a few years, so call ahead. He had a pretty bad crash a few years ago, so, not sure if he is still in business. (760) 489-5774 Brad Spaugh is another great guy in North County. Again it's been a few years, so check with him first. http://shockbleeder.com/home Edited April 8, 2023 by amgems
nostep 17 Posted April 15, 2023 George did custom springs and Gobblers for my silly Sportster build. He also shortened the rear shock and provided a spring for testing. It's probably a month or so away from being a rider. I can't wait to see how it feels. He was unreasonably generous with his time and advice on an oddball one-off build. He also serviced suspension and provided springs for my DRZ. He'll continue to get my suspension business and my recommendation.
