repoman 0 Posted August 20, 2019 Riding a Ktm450exc and xr650, looking for good desert tires (anza borrego) and some street. I have a bike with motoz mountain hybrids on it and they are supposed to go down to low PSI with no problems. Any suggestions?
Bp619 104 Posted August 20, 2019 Kenda Parker dt if you want dot or if you don't care about dot maxxis desert it, front tire always use golden 216 fatty
simicrintz 177 Posted August 20, 2019 Dunlop D606 front and rear on my XR650 and I like them for dirt/street. Switched to a Shinko 505 on the rear of my 500EXC and love it. Still have not pulled the trigger on the front yet but the 216 seems like the go to.
Mikey777 44 Posted August 20, 2019 Like Brian said, Desert Maxxis IT is a really good, long lasting rear tire. I use their front also.

I like the Desert Maxxis IT as well, but be aware it's not DOT approved. Usually not a big deal, but not legal in the Anza Borrego State Park, and I HAVE been checked. They seem less enthusiastic about checking in the last few years, but I'd hate to give them a reason to send me home. And I like Rotella in the big bike. I still use the expensive stuff in the 500. dirt dame 559 Posted August 20, 2019 Another Parker DT fan here, but there is the new Bridgestone Battlecross E50 that I'd like to try. These are both DOT. For non DOT, Rocky Mountain has a new inexpensive hybrid knobby in their Tusk brand, called the Recon that looks pretty good.
SoCalMule 106 Posted August 21, 2019 The Golden Tyre GT 232N soft-intermediate terrain tire is DOT approved and lasts a long time; and the majority of soft sand and loose gravel conditions that are in Borrego the traction is in my opinion perfect. I use the Golden Tyre Fatty 90/100-21 on front for a great tire combination! I run 12 psi both front and back with good results. https://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/tires-and-wheels/goldentyre-gt232n-soft-intermediate-terrain-tire-p

Maybe that's a way of saying would it be easier to use search button and find the other 10 preferred desert tire threads rather than starting a new one
