woo hoo rain.

got that right

For those that don't already know... Lark is GREAT after the rain; decomposed granite, very little clay type mud, no dust, sand is compacted. Rain makes that area PERFECT.

I do believe I'm in on this ride barring torrential downpours. I hope I can find you all. From the directions it seems like the meet up spot is off of but not on McCain Valley Rd. I'll be driving a white Ford econoline conversion with a white and yellow DR-Z on the back. If anyone sees me on the road gimme a holler. Is there an approximate head count at this point? I'll check back Sat night to make sure everything's still on.

See ya,

Paul

My wife wants to ride MTBs at Lake Hodges.

I told her It was supposed to rain, and that Lark on a motor bike, would be THE CALL.coolio.gif

I may be IN on The CRF230F.

Craig.

I might come out and join if y'all don't mind a new guy tagging along. I'm totally unfamiliar with this place, is it really good to ride after a rain? I'm used to mountain biking around San Diego and all the trails taking awhile to dry out.

Was gonna haul my bike, but didn't put the hitch hauler on and gmaps says it's still 2 hours out. I'll just do my own loop starting here from Oside. Have fun.

Seriously- it is East of cuyumaca and laguna so it gets less rain to start with. It drains very well.

So for me, coming from San Marcos, looks like the 8 is best. Where's gas around there? Wonder how the weather is supposed to be tomorrow? I like the idea of wet dirt and a dust free ride, but not in cold, wet clothes. Advice?

There's gasoline at one of the markets in Boulevard, as well as at Golden Acorn casino. It will probably be in the high 40s and a possibility of showers. I wear a full rainsuit when it's pouring out there, and at least something like a Moose rain jacket if it's going to be on and off rain. Winter gloves can be helpful too. I like Fox Polarpaws in the winter, unless it's really cold, then I like the Antifreeze model of glove. A layer of fleece under the jacket helps to absorb moisture from perspiration too. The routes I ride are usually protected from wind, and low enough trail speeds to keep from getting cold.

anybody that is planning on riding their bike TO the ride... it may be a bit cold and wet for that. You can take highway 94 all the way there, but it adds some miles.

If you are slabbing it, consider rain gear

If you are trucking it, it won't be THAT bad once we get rolling

Good thing we don't ever run into those "droolers" as Bob refers to them, on the trails that we ride.
