Bagstr 288 Posted October 12, 2011 On short notice three of us whipped out 95 miles in the Borrego Badlands and Culp Valley Tuesday. RiggerDan, CiD, Bstr Parked in the shade of Tamarisk Grove then headed east to beat the Heat. Somewhat warm arm pumping through the rivers of sand. A little breeze at the lookouts. We did not slow down to take too many prisoners, with the wind in your face refreshing and cooling. We wimped out and sat down for tacos and root beer in BS. The run up into the coolness of Culp Valley gave the three of us new energy. Stopped once in the cool air, climbed rocks to view whence we had come. Deep breath - refreshing - get moving! Used a good deal of rear brake to slide around all those down hill sweeps on Jasper. Stand up and cool down across the powerline road in Grapevine. The guys were ready to fuel up and start another loop but 95 miles was enough for me. Gents, Thanks for making the drive
HowsAbout 2 Posted October 12, 2011 Looked like a good ride. Were you Able to beet the heat by riding earlier and at higher elevation? No prisoners or pictures?
Bagstr 288 Posted October 12, 2011 Just,, able to beat the heat. Only low 90s in BS. Definitely cooler above the valley. We were in town with cold drinks by noon. This was a lot of what you did last week. No camera with me this trip. Looked like a good ride. Were you Able to beet the heat by riding earlier and at higher elevation? No prisoners or pictures? Riggerdan 147 Posted October 12, 2011 Nothing better then a ride through the desert with an experienced tour guide Temps were tolerable scenery & company were great heres a few pictures that I was able to snap on our brief stops to gulp down a little water and soak it all in.... Thanks again chronologically placed - Stonewall in early morning light above - and heading into Julian below Not sure exactly where we stopped, but it was starting to warm up... Quite possibly the most photographed bike out there - or running a close second to PB's Contemplated the route below, but decided to keep it touristy Covered with cool artwork Taking in the moment at higher elevation - really enjoyed that part...Jasper Truck Trail, I believe Almost had to pull out the rescue harness and rappelling line - good job in those boots The end

The beer's we're not that cold, but they were still good after a hot ride. You should have stopped for one (I'm sure the school board would understand).
