ShocknAwe 0 Posted July 8, 2009 UPDATED: Live Oak Springs Track - Saturday - August 8, 2009 - All levels welcome. $20 entry fee. The Live Oak Springs mx park is 2 miles south of Golden Acorn Casino off old hwy 80. Info from my previous ride there is below. I probably cannot make it this time, but hope everyone enjoys it. ShocknAwe 0 Posted July 13, 2009 Nothing like having an entire track to myself and a restaurant, grocery store, gas station, showers and cabins all across from the Live Oak Springs track. Those half pound burgers at the Live Oak Restaurant are reasonably priced and hearty. Temperature was manageable to a guy from the midwest who played football and soccer in 95 degree humidity every year. This mx park / camping resort is awesome. If things get bad enough, moving out there may be an option. I rode about 13 laps. The 4 stroke is smoother and easier to ride. The 2 stroke may be more fun, but for safety and suspension on MX tracks, I prefer the 4 stroke. On this old school enduro track, the 2 stroke was a blast. You have to be careful on this track. It sucks you in, but if you go too fast you risk wrecking. One lap - 4:
TrophyHunter 15 Posted July 13, 2009 Looks like fun! I was tempted but it was a "no kid" weekend so mucho house projects. I did look at my bikes as I passed them in garage getting saws & assorted other tools. Thx for posting the vid....

Jaynen 0 Posted July 13, 2009 Very cool I like the natural terrain track its what I remember of old tracks as a little kid. I also think these tracks like Live Oaks and Pala are going to be more successful because of nearby access to stuff. Shade/Camping/Fuel/Food and other forms of entertainment are going to make it a lot more appealing for families
motorcyclenut 0 Posted July 13, 2009 How much is it to ride there and what are their hours during the week? Tried Google, but that info not found. Thanks!
ShocknAwe 0 Posted July 13, 2009 How much is it to ride there and what are their hours during the week? Tried Google, but that info not found. Thanks! $20 - don't know their hours - they are still working on various things like web sites, signs, track, events, etc. I agree with Jaynen that tracks with food/camping/showers/gas have an advantage. socalhodaka 105 Posted July 18, 2009 Shock, the video is cool. Where is your camera mounted? That's the first MX track I have ever seen with Arrow markers that tell you when to slow down. It looks like a cool time for a camping get together with some fun track time. Kelly

I just added another mount to the tank, which will create a cool image of the tire spinning in the frame. Obviously, if your bike goes down the $350 camera has a lower survival rate. But cool image with perspective. You want something in the frame, both foreground (helmet, tank, wheel, etc.) and background (another rider, tree, etc.). He drives a ford explorer I think. I was planning on going, but I screwed up my back. If its feeling better in the morning I'll be there around 9 in a red tacoma #82 ktm. Show up, its a good time, weather looks really good for tomorrow and they have sprinklers to keep the dust down and keep you cool on the track.
