KTM 950 - 990 FORK MODS

Recommended Posts

Just finished my last project with Seth and the Gas Gas Marzocchi 45mm with drilled pistons and installed mid-valve.

Had to do some testing and a few different set ups to get it right. I really want to Thank you Seth for your patience in dialing it in!

Lets change it up!

Anybody have the big bike that is thinking about suspension mods?

I picked up an extra set of forks for the 950/990 that will likely end up on my bike.

Was thinking about extending the travel as much as 300mm, internal mods, valving and springing accordingly with the non newtonian 100hr fluids. oooooh woooow mmmmmm!

Maybe someone wants to do a full hard core test.

Put the forks on their bike and really put them through the paces and do a full write up on the performance.

You can be SDAR's First Official internet test rider / writer / editor. Well at least pretend to be!

Just a thought.

I like to throw new ideas out there see if anyone bites.

Long as Randy is good with it.

Stay on target....

LOL never hurts to explore options. Suspenders could be the next 'next big thing!' for big bikes.

You're speaking my language. The front forks on my 950 are the kryptonite preventing me from going faster.

My problem is about three feet directly above the forks.

Don't feel bad, some day there will be a remedy for that too... :heh:

I would be interested. I may treat my bike a little too roughly. But I can't be the only one...I've seen you guys riding in Baja and you're not babying your bikes, either.

I blew both fork seals in Alaska. I am looking at options for a tougher set-up.

Will get a hold of you when I get back to SoCal.

Making the suspension longer and valving is straight forward.

The question is ABS. Has anyone extended their 990 suspension with the ABS brake system on their bike?

OK building a set of forks next week at 265mm travel instead of the 300mm just to try on.

Kinda like a shoe store.
