Crawdaddy 96 Posted April 8, 2013 I don't think those butterfly/balancing chairs are gonna work for this fat boy......and I'd prefer a backrest if possible... Saw this one at REI Outlet: http://www.rei.com/product/849652/alps-mountaineering-grand-rapids-chair-2013-special-buy Whats are you folks packing?
SteelRain 0 Posted April 8, 2013 Whats are you folks packing? I know you want a back rest, but I LOVE this thing... small, light, and comfortable. Then again I enjoy sitting on my BMW panniers... no extra crap to carry. http://store.grandtrunkgoods.com/catalog/product/view/id/110/category/4/ :king:/>
TrophyHunter 15 Posted April 8, 2013 I was looking at Todd's chair Friday. Nice Alite but not sure which model. He said it's more comfortable than the couch in his toybox. A little pricey but he said worth it. I just have the typical tripod so I may upgrade.
Bagstr 287 Posted April 8, 2013 CDy,, This is the One all the Camping Gurus are using. Just hook the loop on your bike bar end and you are set! http://www.rei.com/p...r-hanging-chair Or, possibly this is the current rave,,,,, http://www.rei.com/p...-bench-6-person Doubles for those major trail-side repairs we have been reading so much of lately. And all you folks ripping my two legged Butterfly Chair,,, You best buy one before they ( the man ) make them illegal. The special feature no one talks about is that it tells you when you have been having too much fun! Don't we all need a talking chair?

Afry 1 Posted April 8, 2013 The Helinox and rei flex lite are cheaper copies of the Mantis but I notice the Mantis has aluminum connectors at the bottom where the copies are plastic. My 215# sits in the Mantis but I paid $95 and that was on sale. Worth it to me, they are comfy and pack small.

The REI flex lite looks to be the same chair as the Helinox but is rated the same as the Mantis @ 250#. Packed size for these is similar at 13-14" x 5"
Covered in Dust 163 Posted April 8, 2013 You might laugh but before I bought my current chair I was thinking about getting one of these. I carry a small battery powered inflator for my Big Agnus pad so I could use it to inflate one of these also. But I love the chair I have now so nobody gets to laugh at me (at least not about my chair). http://www.amazon.com/36-Inflatable-Blow-Chair-Blue/dp/B00245D5AQ/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1365450980&sr=8-1&keywords=blow+up+chair CiD

eddie 0 Posted April 9, 2013 I bought that thing. I used it once and got rid of it the next day. The ubiquitous Kermit chair is the ticket to comfortable camp lounging. I too have the Big Agnes Helinox and used it this weekend while moto-camping at Pinnacles. My buddy had the tripod stool and was easily convinced to buy the BA chair. Packs small and even though I'm now camping off the GSA, it doesn't take that much space that I wouldn't take it on my WRR.
