I recently got the gopro wide camera and have only used it a couple times. So far I am very happy with it. In my opinion, here are some of the +/-:
Good:
Price-compared to many helmet cams out there this was less $$.
Easy to use-press button and ride!
4gb SD card campatible
Runs on standard AAA sized batteries-Lithium rechargeable are a MUST. Factor that into the price.
Bad:
Burns batteries in video mode-opposed to snap picture every 2 sec mode.
No lcd monitor to see pics vids just taken.
Difficult to tell if if it actually on or not-blinking red light no always visible.
Just a couple observations of the gopro wide so far. If anyone has anything to add please do as this is still a bit new to me. Here is the vid I posted in the duffyland write up to give you an idea of how it looks:

I agree about the batteries. The rechargeable Energizers they recommend suck, lasting less than an hour. The Energizer Lithium last about 3 hours with me. I got my gopro for 138 shipped, as posted by someone earlier in December about a deal going on in Texas at AFM something. I am happy with mine.

Thanks for the info.. I think I have done the firmware update but I will make sure. I will also try the Lithium batteries to see how they work as I have been using the rechargeable ones.

I got it for my birthday, back in July. It is a good camera. Only thing is, I've switched helmets and need some more of that 3M super duper tape to mount the mount! I'll go to their website and investigate further.

I got some of that super duper 3M stuff at Pep Boys a while back. Don't know if they still have it, but if there's one near you, it's probably worth a peeky-see.
