I had to modify the clamp a little with a file (tapered bars) and I loop the lanyard around the bars for piece of mind

I took one of those "Live Strong" style wrist bands (Big rubber band style) and wrapped it around the top of the GPS to hold it in place while riding. I also have it tethered.
