Wierdrider 189 Posted June 11, 2017 I've been wanting to ride High Point TT to Palomar divide TT for a while. Knowing it wasn't gonna happen yesterday ( I started to late ), I at least wanted to find the trail head. Then, I decided to try and make it up to Barker Valley trail, not knowing how the Wee and the street tires were going to handle the road?Three miles up started the great views, and I was feeling good on the Wee. This trail was not suited for the Wee and only went a short distance till it was gated. The world famous observatory in the background. I turned around at this point passed Barker Valley spur, were I stopped to smell the roses, or Lupine??If you look close across the way, you can see MacDuncan and his buddy coming back from Anza ?I don't care what anyone says, I like my milk crate. Someone on ADVrider said " how KLR " ? Gotta get back up there soon and do the whole trail. The Wee performed great.
TrophyHunter 15 Posted June 12, 2017 Nice ride. I put a bash plate on my Wee pretty early on for rides like that.

Bash plate, crash guards and different tires are all on the list. I just put on one inch bar risers and a foot peg lowering kit that also relocates the shifter forward one inch. I LIKE? Maybe something besides the milk crate too, but for now I get to go for a ride when I'm sent to the store?
TrophyHunter 15 Posted June 12, 2017 You can still fit a boxed pie in an Ogio tail bag. Ogio
MacDuncan 132 Posted June 12, 2017 Looks like a nice outing Weirdrider! I almost rode my Wee saturday, but opted for more dirt. Nice pics (since my post was no pics!) Heck, I shoulda checked in with you to cross paths if possible. Maybe another wee ride soon. By the way, I have a bag that might work for your bike instead of the crate, borrow for awhile or buy cheap, but it isn't a nice red one like your crate! haha. And if you want to see a bash plate live on a bike, instead of the internet, let me know. Later
darylhunter 1 Posted June 12, 2017 Thanks, living vicariously through you guys. So busy with work and travel I haven't had the 1190 out at all this year
Kiwi Wayne 3 Posted June 15, 2017 Nice Wierd I rode my Versys up Santa Rosa last Sat. Street tires were no Prob. biggest prob was front forks bottoming out. Hard to beat a plastic crate. They just work!
Slaugo 35 Posted June 15, 2017 Great pix. Let me know next time you go?
dirt dame 561 Posted June 15, 2017 Nice report. It's been a long time since I have been up there.
SofaKing 0 Posted June 19, 2017 Nice report. Huge dl650 fan here so I love seeing them in reports. I had one and loved it. FWIW I ran the HB tip-over bars and ADV Moto stuff skid plate which I found to be a great combo. Not sure if either is still available though this was In 07? Beside tires by far the BEST upgrade I made was Protaper atv high bars. It made the bike feel like a big dirt bike giving me so much more control and made riding on the pegs a dream, night and day difference. Very responsive, initially almost twitchy compared to the stock bend. Stock wires and cables work with these bars too. Love the milk crate too... is it Touratech
Wierdrider 189 Posted June 20, 2017 I'm pretty sure I saw saw TourTech on it somewhere ? HB tip over bars?

I had the Hepco Becker crash / side bars with Hepco Becker center stand too. I always feel weird calling them "crash" bars. Here is the Adventure Moto Stuff shop bike with the side bars, skid plate, center stand setup and much more on it.
