Mr Moto 0 Posted September 3, 2015 You will like it especially at corral 2x as good as mt43 in everything almost as good on rock. Half as good in sand and loose uphills than a true knobbie. Best all around tire ive used, but i dont mind swapping threw different tires for different terrain i ride so not best for me Just got a Hybrid but haven't ridden on it yet. Choose it because I read "best all-around dual sport tire" in an article written by Jimmy Lewis. http://dirtbiketest.com/product-tests/motoz-mountain-hybrid-tire/ Looking forward to see for my slow self how well it works. Bagstr 288 Posted September 3, 2015 http://dirtbiketest.com/product-tests/motoz-mountain-hybrid-tire/ Jimmy Likes It,,,except for the weight. 16lbs For reference: A Desert IT weighs in @ 14.2 lbs
amgems 79 Posted September 3, 2015 Been running the mountain hybrid for a while. Um...it's OK. Been running it at 7psi with a Michelin Butyl Trials Tube. Here's my observations. Positive: Generally it's a good compromise between a knobby and an mt43. Negative: It side slips more than a knobby and an mt43. Negative: Down hill braking is about the same as an mt43 (not so good). Positive: Side walls are way tougher than an mt43. - I got a punture in an mt43 thru the sidewall. Probably will not run one (mt43) any more because of that. Positive: Wears well I'm going to try the Moto Z Tractionator Enduro IT next. It's DOT too. bikeslut 1 Posted September 3, 2015 Yeah- the hybrid weighs a butt-load...think of it as "rotating mass" helping to reduce stalls...it is truly a beast
Crawdaddy 96 Posted September 3, 2015 Negative: It side slips more than a knobby and an mt43. That's all I need to know.......screw it.......no interest......I'll stick with tried and true MT43 in mtn/rock season (summer) Time to spoon on a knobby rear for desert season...... bikeslut 1 Posted September 3, 2015 AC10 for me, IF I go out to the desert enough- MT43 is just "ok" in the sand, and not ok in the dunes.

bikeslut 1 Posted September 3, 2015 While we're having a tire thread, it's worth noting that the MT43 is a "hook up tire"...bowers, don't get the wrong idea...it grips; it doesn't spin, and dig, and slingshot out of loamy corners; it complements my DRZ very nicely. the DRZ is maybe 35 horsepower in a 300# package...while we're on the subject, I didn't care for the 606 front tire on the DRZ, but I liked it on my KLR. different tires/bikes/riding styles. Can't only consider one thing; it's the combination that matters
350thumper 336 Posted September 4, 2015 Good write up on the tire. Informative.
darylhunter 1 Posted September 4, 2015 Thanks, This thread has been helpful. I saw the Motoz at a sponsor tent at the Big Bear ride and thought it looked interesting. Still don't know which way to go, but leaning toward the MT43 for now. But front tire is still a question mark. Stock 500 EXC tire doesn't do well on the hard pack marble fest at Twin Oaks, but I suspect most tires don't either.
Bp619 104 Posted September 4, 2015 Your right Daryl nothing will just like slut said tires have to compliment your bike and riding style. Big hp bikes and your use it don't work well with trials like tires but if you are always a gear high and don't spin up a bunch those tires are a dream

Just threw one of these on my 350. So far so good: https://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/p/3728/3520/Pirelli-MT16-Garacross-Intermediate-Terrain

Bp619 104 Posted September 24, 2015 https://youtu.be/k7UdxWD1XLY Motoz review totally agree with everything he says and I'm running tubliss needs super low psi I use 2-5. On a tube system would need to be around 8 but watch out for pinch flats. For our terrain with pretty loose hill climbs I do at least doesn't suite my riding style or terrain. Guy in video rides his beta on verge of stalling at super low speeds and no wheel spin like trails bike, I bet this tire would be amazing like he says but I can't ride like that and doesn't suit me. Pirelli xcmh here I come.
CVRick 42 Posted September 24, 2015 Lots of throttle and wheel spin. That seems to suit me on my ktm. i am still waiting to install the maxis desert it. More throttle and wheel spin capable.

More throttle and wheel spin capable. agreed... high horsepower bikes do well with the desert IT. you will have some issues in hard pack if you don't use that throttle judiciously, but for most applications that's a good tire for your bike. I've adjusted my riding to the MT; rarely wheel spin, and stay away from mud... and tracks. Other than that, it's good for what I do
