Soooooo bummed I missed it! Last year was awesome, great memories for sure. So Obama closes the WWII Memorial and other places like Toroweep, but allows the National Mall to have an Illegal Alien Amnesty March yesterday? Go figure. We're living in an actual Alice In Wonderland, where up is down, left is right and NOTHING makes sense! God help us if "Her Thighness" is elected in 2016.

As always, I enjoy your ride reports Crawdaddy, great pics. I hope there are more to come! :)/>

Totally pissed about the public park closures too :thumbsdown_anim:/>

Here's an interesting site http://www.nbcwashin...-225824691.html

What You Can and Can't Do During the Government Shutdown (Here's just a couple FYI's)

Camp in a national park: All national parks -- from Yosemite to Shenandoah National Park -- are closed. (Long-term campers already in parks were given two days to leave.)

Here's another EDUCATIONAL site... pass it on http://thisnation.co...estion/011.html

sorry...not trying to hijack... just sayin

Check the legal work status of an employee: The E-Verify system allows employers across the country to check on immigration status, but it's a federal website, which means it is shut down.

Here's another EDUCATIONAL site... pass it on http://thisnation.co...estion/011.html

You go Warp9, thanks for the information. In reality only 17% of the govt is shut down. 100% could be open (sans ObamaCare) but no negotiations are permissible according to the POTUS.

Looks awesome, need to make this ride happen some time when I'm not sent away on secret government missions. Forget that you heard that last part. B)

Cool....bummer about Toroweap....guess u couldn't get around the gate.

Crude but effective non verbal statement depicting my feelings about the Gov. Closure of Toroweap..... We had to step over a locked chain link cable to take the pic...... Rangers house in the distance.....no feasible bypass..... the ranger, to his credit, did ride down to speak with us.....no sense beating up the messenger.....bummer for all.....

12FD13E7-BE96-4E0B-A457-FD68B99D9237-2105-000002A51CC61658_zps75a72016.jpg

The ranger basically said he's a pawn in this chess game. He wasn't even supposed to be on site (he was scheduled to be on vacation with volunteers running the show). The volunteers were told not to report, his vacation was canceled, and then he was furloughed but brought back on in some emergency plan that he doesn't even understand. He was not happy and he was sympathetic but he's also a 15yr employee who doesn't want to jeopardize his job by disobeying orders.... nobody wins

The sign in the distance on the right welcomes visitors to the park/Toroweap. The sign in the distance on the left states it's a $1600 fine to ride beyond the boundary without a street licensed vehicle (when the park is open). Another reason to street license your dirt bike(s).
