paulmbowers 236 Posted January 26, 2012 .. big oak tree and a porta-potty Not a port-a-potty. Permanant block structure. Good time for radio learners, too!

Goofy Footer 539 Posted January 26, 2012 don't be scared by the 8 a.m. start time... Be scared of taking lessons from this man ^ I would attend simply for the carnage and blood but I unfortunately will be out of town. This is a picture of bikeslut in the late '80s. You've been warned.
dirt dame 561 Posted January 26, 2012 I don't think that's a picture of Bikeslut from the 80s. Here's one of him from a while ago though.

bikeslut 1 Posted January 26, 2012 When is this ride? I can help sweep if needed. Thank you for the offer- I will say that Lark Canyon is fairly small- this noob ride is to get dirt noobs comfortable on different terrain and club newbs a chance to put names with faces For experienced riders (grod, unhusky) you are welcome to show up and ride with us, or say hi, and I'll get you on some fun trails before I return to the noob group...you would probably be bored riding with us, but any advice you could give newbs is appreciated...I'm sure I am not the best teacher (goofy;shush) That all being said- if you don't mind waiting at intersections, join in! Paul and I can handle the lead and sweep... I'll be trucking out from Alpine if anybody needs a ride. If folks want to try out a radio ride pre-desert dash, paul and I will be outfitted...he sings some, and I cuss some... If you DO have a radio, and are a newb I'm behind, it means I don't have to yell as much... And don't listen to anything goofy has to say

roadchick 0 Posted January 26, 2012 Does anyone have room for another bike? If not, not a big deal, I will bring my NX250. Right now, I do not have dual-sport tires on my WR. I have the SM wheels/tires, and the Excel dirt wheels/tires. Need to buy a dual sport tire so I can ride to these rides vs. trailer. Thanks!
KTMrad 513 Posted January 26, 2012 Wish I could go....but too much stuff to do with the Dash coming up. Also, gots to get the maintenance done and forks back on the 950....I'm a slacker

What is your apprehension to putting the dirt tires on the WR and using them? I guess I could ride out on those tires? Someone told me they are not meant for the street and I would only get 1200 miles out of them if I did ride with them on the street, that is all.
Bagstr 288 Posted January 26, 2012 PB, There is such a thing as too much IPod. The treatment is: Twist slowly and remove from ears. ,

My thought, you are going to replace them with DS tires anyways.
dirt dame 561 Posted January 26, 2012 Riding those trails on SM tires has been done (not that I'm recommending it....just sayin').

bikeslut 1 Posted January 27, 2012 two way ham radios... headsets and PTT switches on our bikes paul and I will each be on a radio, and able to communicate: "quad party ahead".."check" "paul, roadchick biffed on her street tires and will be a while getting up".."do you need help?".." nope... I'll take a picture then we'll catch up" things like that... this helps groups stay together, and also lets us talk about others without hurting their feelings
