Another website breakthrough...

Recommended Posts

Updates to my site: http://www.WhereAmIRiding.com

Today was one of those days where I had an idea and thankfully made it work (Thanks to my co-worker Greg for some insight).

I had a guy ask for a feature on my site, asking if they could get the map on their profile FULL SCREEN format. I thought this was a great idea as it would make viewing your map on a mobile device very easy and actually better than the page on the SPOT site. The SPOT page only drops pins, it doesn't connect them together. Weird right?

Anyway, here's the difference:

Profile:

http://whereamiriding.com/my-profile/userprofile/IronButt84

Full Screen:

http://whereamiriding.com/gpsfiles/map/LatLng.php?username=IronButt84

Sadly the forum doesn't let you see the full link :( You'll see it when you open it in your browser. (Works in Google Chrome, Firefox, and Internet Exploder 9)

You can replace the username at the end of the 2nd link to your own if you're registered.

I also picked up another website gig for a company many of you are familiar with, and I'm looking forward to showing you all VERY soon. It's almost done, just needs a bunch of product updates and it's ready to go.

Paul, thanks for the tip on Spot placement. I didn't know I could place my Spot Tracker in the tailbag of my Mojavi Saddlebags, zip it shut, and STILL receive a solid signal? (I generally carry it in the map pocket of my tankbag on the WR250R).

Speaking of Spot Trackers, have you signed up for your FREE account at http://www.whereamIriding.com ? Do it and share your location with friends using an easy to remember profile name.

Funny.

I finally bought a RAM mount for my SPOT to mount in near the bars. I recently had a problem with the SPOT unit, and it was not transmitting, and I was unaware of the failure because it was in (of all places!) my Mojavi.

I rode around this morning with the Spot in the back of the Mojavi.....tracked fine.

Yes, mine worked fine there- the malfunction was the unit itself, which SPOT replaced under warranty. But I couldn't see it fail- I'd turn it on, set the tracking feature, and zip up the bag. But it's turn on it'd red light within a few minutes, and I didn't see the failure light.

Crawdaddy,

How is that custom seat working out. Brand? Cost?

Any down side you found?

My wife is looking.
