Crawdaddy 96 Posted September 19, 2011 Unfortunately I can't make this into a moto vacation but we'll be taking the 4wd into Toroweap on Friday and spending the night. Thinking about driving over to the Bar 10 on Saturday just to show the wife the area. Is the magenta track on the attached map do-able by 4wd or should I go around by the schoolhouse? Also I have a VHF radio in the truck. Let me know what frequency you guys are using and I'll monitor just in case I can help. It's doable but it'll be really slow going down the swtichbacks/rocks.......probably not a good idea without another vehicle to winch you out of trouble.......I'd back track to the Schoolhouse on Cr-5 and come into Bar 10 on Cr-257......that'll also give you more time to drive from the Bar 10 down to the river view below the ranch.......the ~9 mile drive down to the river view may take ~45 minutes each way (volcanic Rock)..... 146.505 is the usual "go to" channel. Strega 0 Posted September 19, 2011 I don't think I'd take the magenta track in a 4x4, that would be gnarly and take a LONG time. I suggest going to the School House and then South to Bar 10 as Crawford mentioned above.

I've ridden parts of it before and I do recall a section of baseball sized rocks. I'll probably go around by the schoolhouse. Maybe I'll see you out there. Red Toyota Tacoma with a shell. Might be good to have an emergency channel....

Might be good to have an emergency channel.... It's a pretty remote area so I think it will be sketchy at best. 147.320 is on the south rim near the Grand Canyon Village. It's a long shot but maybe???? There are 3 repeaters linked together in St. George. 145.49 is probably the best chance of the three but once you get a ways in from Mesquite you'll be on the wrong side of the mountains. I'll monitor 145.505 while I'm roaming around. You're not going to sing are you??? Hope to see you guys there.
paulmbowers 236 Posted September 20, 2011 Yes, but I sing on 146.

PbdBlue 46 Posted September 25, 2011 Fixed. Will you be carrying a cooler of beer and ice? Preferably local brew. And some Pellegrino? In your cage... Possibly but it'll have to be in cans. No glass bottles in the cooler off-road. Been there, done that, NOT good.
