Newb friendly, family friendly.  Bring your motorcycle, your quad, you 4x4, your rally car, whatever!
It's the most wonderful time of the year, at least if you're into desert riding.  The temps are down and riding should be great.
I have a busy month, but I think I have my lady convinced to go out to Ocotillo Wells SVRA on the weekend of 19-20 November.  If you've never ridden there, it's got a good mix of everything the desert has to offer and is a decent place to take a dual sport ride to Borrego Springs or ride over to the shores of the lovely Salton Sea.  We are likely bringing the toy hauler, but OW is a good place to tent camp from because they have bathrooms and showers (bring quarters).
I posted this in Family Oriented Rides because we raised our kids out here in the winter months and I still like to see kids riding.  So, bring your kids, your significant others or just yourself.  There will be a fire after the sun goes down and beverages will be consumed and lies will be told.
I will probably be bringing my two stroke 250 and the wife's Rhino, so no dual sport riding for me but it's up to you to decide where you'd like to ride.
Will likely stage somewhere near Main Street, we like to camp in "The Cove" area which is sort of behind Blow Sand Hill.  Will have to just play it by ear, because there's no real way to tell what area may be unoccupied when we show up.  I can bring a few stakes and cardboard signs to put out and I will update the site whenever we get there.
Here's a site with the map, Main Street to The Cove is shown in the lower left corner.

This route is from the little town of Ocotillo through Coyote Wells to the Centenilla Prison, then up thru the sand dunes of Superstition mountain, after taking in views of Salton Sea I'll be traveling west through the Silt Beds and washes toward Fish Creek and The Great Overland Stage Route The pass up Mnt Laguna will be via Oriflamme Canyon. There wil be a re-fueling station in Julian where I plan to stop in town for BBQ brisket at the Julian Beer Co.
There's a return route that travels thru the California National Forest on dirt roads that arent maintained. There is a section where the rider will have to duck down and ride under trees in a single track section and traverse over a recent rock slide from the side of a cliff. Along this route route will be what's left of old wagons left out in the wilderness to explore and study. The route then follows several sand washes though the Yuha Desert back toward Ocotillo Chevron.
3300 ft elevation change on the ride can cause temp changes so plz dress in light layers if you decide to tag along on this old time discovery route through East San Diego County Mountain Region and California Desert District.
The route is classified as level 3 (difficult) due to 150 miles of steep 1:1 slope, rocky landslides, creek crossings , deep powdery sand, silt beds and beautiful yet harmful flora if touched. 90/10 off-road/slab.
I can meet at the staging area by Chevron in Ocotillo at 845  for fuel. ksu 9am  estimated return time 330 pm.
