KTMrad 513 Posted January 22, 2011 I've been working in Beaumont for the last 2 weeks, and had some extended lunchtimes on a few days, so had to do something not to get bored. One day, I just drove up from Beaumont to the 18 heading up towards Big Bear just to get up into the snow. I went as far as Jenk Lakes Road. I was haulin' in the truck and the road had some slush....suddenly the truck got sideways and I was headed for a snowbank, counter-steered and then was headed for the other snowbank and trees, but recovered it....didn't want to hit anything, wouldn't have been purdy. Slowed down after that. The next day I knew I was going to have another long lunch, so took Codyboy with me and instead of heading up the 18 towards Big Bear, went straight up the valley towards Forest Falls for a short hike. About a foot of snow on the ground at over 6000 feet. Normally, this stream is usually just a trickle, but after the rains and snow, it was flowing pretty good. While I pretty much just walked across the top of the snow, Cody's feet sunk in at spots, and he was up to his chest in snow....he wasn't quite sure what to make of it, I had to keep enticing him to continue on. KTMrad 513 Posted January 22, 2011 A week later, I had another extended lunch and had Cody with me again (he loves to go to work with me), so we went up there again. The snow was still there, but a lot had melted. Here he's crossing a rocky section and snowbank.... Scenery was still awesome..... I made him sit and stay to pose on this rock, he was not sure about the water rushing right next to him.... I'd love to have a cabin like this in the mountains. Bagstr 288 Posted January 22, 2011 It's OK to go racing as long as you use the Race Truck.
Vagabundo 0 Posted January 22, 2011 You have a good photographic eye and your camera's resolution kicks some serious ass. The photo of your dog standing sideways with the mountains in the background belongs in a magazine. Very nice!
RogerTOWM 0 Posted January 22, 2011 Great photos Randy, beautiful area. Cody is looking good, you on the other hand….well whatever… But one part of your story doesn’t ring true. You know, where you said you slowed down. I ridden with you, you never slow down!
