Don't bother sending tea bags to congress in the mail. They will throw the letters out before anyone gets to see them. Thay are so afraid that someone will send anthrax or something that they throw away everything. You could send them a photo of the tea bags and send the same message across.

I watched that a few times just to let it soak in, we are all in serious and imminent danger. It really is time for people to pull together, to take reasonable action and demand accountability from our Goverment/ elected officials.

To be focused on fixing our own country is good but we cannot dismiss the possibilities or events that could unfold in the future. We are already the targets of extremist terrorists, if the world economy collapses the reality that there will be many countries that will turn their sights and anger on us is there....very scary times we are living in.

On a very local level, members of SD City government "misappropriated" $1.4 Billion of retirement fund money, leaving folks wondering if they could count on an income. That was fixed by increasing the cops contribution (in my case) from $73 per paycheck to $280.

The only dissenting vote for the initial re-routing of $$ and the bailout was a voting member of the Police Officers Association.

Lemme see, a group of 6 stole the money & we have to pay it back? They were indicted but nobody's in jail.

My point for explaining this is almost 200 cops left the dept, including me. Those $$ losses, along with their current contract resulting in a net out of pocket loss of 14% pay over the next two years can only mean one thing. The hiring standards are going to come down.

Wash DC, LA & others went thru this and had horrible problems with corruption & worse. When I hired on, there were 7000 applicants, they hired 110. That's gonna change.

Our basic safety is being undermined. The Sheriff's are in contract negotiations and the county is playing hardball. In these economic times, nobody should be asking for much but they could use your support for reasonable benefits. Our association signed a 0% raise this year, 2% next with no "take aways" & were happy as hell with that.

I tend not to be a fear monger, but I'd prepare for some strange times.

Other countries are already blaming the U.S. ofr the whole worlds economic woes. Yes, VERY scary times indeed.

It is an extremely common tactic to divert attention from your own failings by demonizing and blaming others. Hitler rose to power by blaming the Jews. He said the rich Jewish bankers had undermined Germany. It worked and National Socialism rose to power.

Hugo Chavez is doing that now in Venezuela. Running short of bread? Blame the United States. Is your economy shrinking? Blame the U.S. Do you want to control the press and crush you opponents? Blame the U.S.

If you want divert attention from your own failing economy just place the blame on the evil blue eyed white people. That will shift attention away from your own government’s corruption. This tactic works well both in Brazil and Chicago.

Do you want to hide the fact that your policies forcing banks to lend to people who cannot repay the home loans? Yes make it illegal to ask for income verifications or even check if the person is in the country legally. Then get your homies in positions of power in government created lending institutions. Have them make all these bad loans. The people getting the money will now vote for you for life. When the bill comes due blame it all of the evil bankers, not your policies or homies of course.

Then above all else while you are blaming others for what you did, use that smoke screen to grab more power! After all it is power you want not money. Money is just paper. That paper is only useful to gain power. Power is the ultimate goal. Hitler did not make himself rich. Stalin did not make himself rich. Hugo Chavez is not making himself rich. Castro did not make himself rich. Mao did not make himself rich. They all made themselves powerful! With power you have all the trappings of wealth. What rich man has his own army? Powerful men still get the mansions, the cars, the planes, the women, the parties, and more over the ego gratification.

Be careful who you vote for and support. If they are making promises to aid you by taking from another then run from that person. Because next time he will take from you to give to someone else.

On the lighter side....

A little boy wanted $100.00 very badly and prayed for weeks, but nothing happened .

Then he decided to write God a letter requesting the $100.00.

When the postal authorities received the letter to God , USA , they decided to send it to the President.

The president was so amused that he instructed his secretary to send the little boy a $ 5.00 bill.

The president thought this would appear to be a lot of money to a little boy.

The little boy was delighted with the $5.00 bill and sat down to write a thank-you note to God, which read:

Dear God: Thank you very much for sending the money. However, I noticed that for some reason you sent it through Washington D.C. and those a--holes took $95.00 in taxes.

I don't know what is up with this country. I just read that 27 illegal immigrants were arrested at an auto parts manufacturing plant in Washington. Then they were released and offered legal work papers as long as they cooperate in an investigation against the company that employed them, WTF ?????

They estimate the number of illegals in the country between 12 and 20 million. If they go after the employers and none of the illegals have a job, where do these morons in the govt. think the illegals will get the money to survive. If they can't get it legally they will have to starve or get it by some illegal means. Maybe they think if the illegals can't get jobs they will all just go home. I just don't get it. ;)

Yup definetely get's you fired up.

This one too.

http://www.wimp.com/thegovernment/

Great video PP... While there is some slant to it (which form of government does the filmmaker prefer?), it does a decent job of helping the viewer understand the difference between our two main political parties...

Interesting (and frankly somewhat depressing) quote that's been going around:

"A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largess of the public treasury. From that time on the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury, with the results that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship....

The average age of the world's greatest civilizations has been two hundred years. These nations have progressed through this sequence: from bondage to spiritual faith; from spiritual faith to great courage; from great courage to liberty; from liberty to abundance; from abundance to selfishness; from selfishness to complacency; from complacency to apathy; from apathy to dependence; from dependency back again to bondage."

by: Sir Alex Fraser Tytler

(1742-1813) Lord Woodhouselee, Scottish jurist, professor and historian

While there is debate on the author, it does make you think.
