wildwood 11 Posted January 2, 2016 Nice way to start off the year. Good to meet Rick, another excellent SDAR member to ride with. We headed out as planned to the Devils Canyon area and turned north through Dos Cabezas hugging the hills as much as possible, reaching Pipekorn Slot in good time. Rick about to drop in Why?? The stuff I was looking for......... Montero Cyn. Rd., nearing S2 Canyon Sin Nombre Possible single track.........through mud caves? It got tight really quick So we hung around the Mud Caves area for a bit, got rolling, then missed the turn (my bad) to Diablo Drop and rode a crazy little trail to a dead end. We finally got to the right trail and made the drop, super soft sand, to Fish Creek, Split Mountain heading to Second Trestles for a final break. Hang a right towards Ocotillo and fast run down S. Carrizo Wash, through some whoops, lots of whoops and finally a good trail that brought us in just north of Ocotillo to finish the ride. We put in 101 mi. for the day, a really run ride. eastcountyktm 0 Posted January 3, 2016 I tried to make the ride but I couldn't swing it. Looks like you had a good time, sorry I missed it. Pretty much the same ride we did with PdbBlue a couple of weeks ago, only we skipped the whoops heading towards Painted Gorge ( thankfully)!

Pretty much the same ride we did with PdbBlue a couple of weeks ago, only we skipped the whoops heading towards Painted Gorge ( thankfully)! It's such a good loop, the perfect distance. And there are variable trails to choose to change it up some, which we did this time a little. I hit my low fuel warning about a mile before we got back to Ocotillo. Good times! eastcountyktm 0 Posted January 3, 2016 Yes, that is why I do this loop frequently. One tanks of gas, good place to park, and amenities at the start and finish if you need them. You can easily stretch it out if you want to also. After fish creek you can go through OW to Borrego for food and gas and then multiple choices from there to get back. You can also do the loop you did and gas up in Ocotillo and do a south loop towards the border. I've done many 200+ mile trips from there.
PbdBlue 46 Posted January 3, 2016 If you skirt the north edge of the bombing range you can avoid most of the bad whoops.
