Popotla, Rosarito, Baja California

Recommended Posts

Popotla is a small beach / fish market just south of Rosarito in Baja located next to the Fox Studios where such movies at Titanic where partially filmed.

Popotla was recommended to me by an Ensenada restaurant owner as having better Langosta (lobster) than the more famous Puerto Nuevo.

Popotla was a place Goofy had wanted to visit.

Popotla is a place Goofy HAS now visited.

Tasted buttery - the fisherman cut it up and we ate it straight from the body

Local's trying to show off to their chicks. These guys had to get pulled out by a vintage CJ-7

I love Baja and mucho preferro riding endless dirt trails through the pine forest, miles of desolate desert and remote beaches as opposed to the border city life but... sometimes a little tasty food is in order.

Puerto Nuevo has better moto parking (as in line of sight from many restaurants) but Popotla has far better variety in food. We were the only non-locals there yesterday and the beach was packed.

Goofy Recommended!

Excerpt taken from "The Surfer's Guide to Baja - 4th Edition" by Mike Parise.

It's a great book and I Highly Recommend it for those surfing Baja and those who want to learn about the beaches of Baja (maybe plan some destination beach camping trips)

And yes Reximus, that is the corner of a NWCG IRPG book in the top of the pic...

Your not suppost to tell people about this place it is a secret, shhhhh! Around 10am the boats start to come in and you can get the freshest and cheapest sea food around and all the resturants will cook it up for you. You have a great taste in beer. Best Mexican beer.
