Getting Back Into US with Only Birth Certificate ?

Recommended Posts

Will this be a problem ?

I won't have a passport in time for the Dana Memorial ride in June

It will not be a problem. They cannot prevent you from crossing back into the U.S. (providing you have some form of I.D.), but they will chastise you a bit for not having a passport.

at the risk of getting political... they can't stop others from getting in, why would they stop a legal citizen

Take a selfie holding that days paper on this side, show as proof you were once here. :tired:

Randy,

I've confirmed it with the CBP officers at Otay and San Ysidro: They no longer require a passport to reneter. An oral declaration to US citizenship is fine; a photo ID with proof of USC (birth cert) is even better.

Hope this helps.

Dan

I came through last weekend with my driver's license. He did ask if I had a passport. He didn't give me any grief.
