Guest Crusty Posted October 29, 2013 I couldn't SEE working today. Wanted to hit some trails we missed the last time out in NC. I had to stop here to pick a line I could ride, so I decided to take some pics and write a report. I felt like a golfer walking around, planning my shot. I must have pushed the button that turns the camera, check out the ledge behind me. This pic was the trail ahead of my backward selfie pic. It's an Awesome section. My weapon of choice today. I got in a fun 3 hour Moto, with no drops, flats falls, long breaks, or technical issues. Well it's time to get back to work, see you on the trails, Craig. Got a bag of avocados and limes on the way home.

Desertrunner 0 Posted October 29, 2013 That little thing looks much more suited for those trails than the piggies we try to ride through there.

Guest Crusty Posted October 30, 2013 That little thing looks much more suited for those trails than the piggies we try to ride through there. Agreed. Both of my 2T.s work well on these type of trails, but this one is so easy with XR tractor like power, 60 MPG, E start and a 6 speed. With 12- 50gearing it climbs tree's like a trials bike with a seat,on the gas it's like riding a BMX bike. Thank's Mimi and for gas. I may ride there again real soon!
Guest Crusty Posted October 30, 2013 The first owner of this bike seen here took really good care of it. Riding alone I could hear this song today.

poboyblues 0 Posted October 30, 2013 Those 230s are excellent bikes. I have a buddy who used to have one (he rode it into the ground), and he would do better than all of us on the hard stuff for sure. I rode it through similar terrain as in your pics and the anxiety level of riding through it on the 230 was nil compared to the level I felt riding through the rough on the KTM. Maybe I shouldn't be riding a KTM?? It's the small stature I am sure that keeps the anxiety at bay. Great pictures.. and what a rough road!

X 2 It's an unfair advantage on technical trails, even riding 17 pounds front and rear. I read an article that stated "CRF 230 F" makes a $10,000.00 enduro bike seem like a waste of money. Time to get some trials tires, heavy duty tubes, lights and a plate! Craig.
Guest Crusty Posted October 30, 2013 Sic Vic on the 230. http://dualsport-sd.com/forums/index.php?/topic/14991-2-ktm-450-1-rocken-crf-230/ (quote) danrider, on 07 February 2013 - 09:31 PM, said: Crusty, how you liken the CRF230, I bet you can throw that bike around. (QUOTE) Sic Vic. Feed back from Point of View riding. My first reaction is "Surprised" I thought the bike would be a limiting factor for what trail you could ride. I thought it would be underpowered in some way or maybe the suspension alone would limit trail choices. I WAS INCORRECT. The bike is not a Magic Carpet or anything but in the hands of a capable rider the bike impressed. If it did get in to deep; throw it over your shoulder and walk it up the hill... Easy enough! Its obvious fault (term used lightly) If your riding with others on bigger bikes and a straight comes up, prepare to be ran over. But hey... ya didn't buy it for Desert Racing RIGHT! Crust tosses that thing all over the place. Wheelies through whoops, kicks and whips off everything else. Thought I saw a 360 thrown in at one point???? It was fun to watch and it also added to my knowledge base of motorcycle types and abilities. I'm always learning and with Crust riding that thing; school was in session! X3 I tentatively sold my "street plated" 230F last night (supposed to get cash/make delivery tomorrow)......Caitlynn is married now and has no time, Kathy has no interest, and the bike has just been collecting dust.......plus my river shack needs some TLC (which means I need some $$)......selling it to a family friend so it hasn't completely left the family..... I was hesitant to sell it because I REALLY like that little bike.......Caitlynn jamming up Santa Isabel Truck trail a couple of years ago

Sneeker 29 Posted October 31, 2013 I'm interested to know how riding a 230f compares to a late model XR250r. Honda claims 237 lbs for the XR250.
