otay truck trail in a car?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, my wife has some family in town who want to get somewhere with an awesome view, the first place that came to mind was the top of otay mountain but i have only gone on the DR and dont know if its doable in a car, anyone have experience with this in a passenger sedan or anything? I know when i went on the bike it seemed like mostly blue gravel and didnt look all that difficult. Thanks for the advice!

Im talking passenger sedan though, if i had a truck or suv i wouldnt be concerned haha

that's why i said YOUR car... yes; your car can do it... but I would not take MY car on it... some potholes, etc.

But your car can do it, and as long as you are going slow, it'll be fine

you want to show them some views? Sunrise highway to the desert overlook... Mt Soledad and Pt Loma. Those are my suggestions

SUV - Jeep rentals are relatively cheap.

Gliderport in Torrey Pines, etc as BS mentioned.

that road is practical paved from TT

they have graded it and paved it a few months ago (maybe not paved) but what ever they do with some tar and pebbles

i think it would be no problem with a car...........

not to far away if you need help........(:

OK- paulmbowers and I rode this entire area today, from San Ysidro along the border road; I stand by my original statement- I'd take your car, with no reservations

MY car, I wouldn't want to worry about the random potholes, rock chips, and chalky dust.

Also, we also went by the desert overlook, and saw great views...

Overlooking the Viejas casino on viejas Grade

Looking over Pine Valley area on Deer Park Road

In short- lots of views just as great elsewhere

Otay Mountain ? That's probably the last place I'd think of taking visitors for views.

How about Mt. Soledad or Mt. Helix ?

Or Mt. Laguna, sure...it's an hour drive, but the views can't be beat.

This is jut my opinion.
