    Roasty Rules??

Had a great time!!! Thanks to everyone who came. We had quite a diverse group: from noobs to pros on everything from scramblers to big bikes! Special thanks to the experienced SDAR riders for the guidance and keeping us safe! CVRick - thanks for sweeping! Weirdrider - awesome photos! Looking forward to more rides!
  2. Thanks everyone for showing up and pitching into this ride! Special thanks to SDAR experienced riders for the guidance. Nice to finally meet you guys.
  3. Looking forward to the ride! Here's a map: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1s6MN2vDb42KzOYv2YcJ_rXmki9nQzhPO&usp=sharing KML file attached. 9 @ gas station 9:30 at Pio Pico store Exploring Otay Mtn Ride #1.kml
  4. There's plenty neighborhood streets that you can park at around the gas station too.
  5. It looks like we've got a decent group forming! Here's meet up times and addresses. 9:00 - 9:10 AM meet up San Diego Gas and Car Wash (950 Eastlake Pkwy, Chula Vista, CA 91914). 9:20 - 9:30 AM meet up at Pio Pico in front of store (14615 Otay Lakes Rd, Jamul, CA 91935). bikeslut, do it for bob, tom, and paul's sake. carlos - noobs welcomed! Cheers everyone! Looking forward to the ride!
  6. I was thinking San Diego Gas and Car Wash to fuel up before the ride. Meet up at 9AM. Address: 950 Eastlake Pkwy, Chula Vista, CA 91914
  7. Location: Otay Mountain Date: Sunday 1/7 Time: 9:00AM to Mid Afternoon Experience Level: Novice (more experienced welcomed too) Terrain: Easy-Slightly challenging Motos: plated bikes, all sizes welcomed Otay Mountain, she’s a beauty and she’s right in our own backyard! This is the first in series of Sunday rides that I’m planning at Otay Mtn. There's a ton to explore from vistas, canyons, trails, to bunkers, crashed helicopters, radio towers, and more. The idea is to check out something different on each ride. These rides will be noob friendly on easy-to-slightly-challenging terrain. The intention is explore Otay Mountain and gain more experience. Most of the riding will be on gravel roads with an occasional deviation to explore some noob / big bike friendly single tracks. We will only take trails that everyone is comfortable with. Riders of all experience levels are welcomed. Ride #1 - Mine Canyon, Border Loop, Towers, & Bunkers: The plan for the first ride is to meet up at 9 AM in Eastlake and take Otay Lakes Rd to the Pio Pico entrance. You can also meet up at Pio Pico if you’re coming from another direction. From there ride up the truck trail to Doghouse Junction, head east toward Donohoe Spring, then south towards Mine Canyon. If the gates are open take the truck trail westward along the border then back up towards the Doghouse again. If the gates are closed we can circle back. Along the way we can stop to check out few trails, the radio towers, bunkers, and have lunch. I’ll be creating a google map as general point of reference but the ride will be open to changes as we go. We’ll be stopping along the way to take in the views, explore sites, eat, etc.

  12. Wanting to do some more exploring this Saturday morning at Otay Mountain. Ride is open to all. Meet up 7:30 am at Chula Vista / Bonita gas station. Or meet up at 8:00 am Pio Pico. Plan is to head to the top first then explore some trails. Gonna try to exit on the east or the south, not Pio Pico. I'm a noob on a KLR with some experience.
  13. Sounds like a blast! I'm 100% in. Do you have gps tracks?
  14. Had a good time. No one was hurt. The only issue was that 2 two gates that we tried to pass were closed. These were the two gates heading south on Marron Valley Rd. after you make right on Marron Valley Rd. Apparently it was unusual for both they gates to have been locked. I will be posting up more info in the ride report section later today. I'm hindsight I'm wondering if posting the Google map here might have had something to do with it. At any rate still good times. There is much to do at Otay. I can't go this Saturday but I'm down to do another ride next there next Friday or Saturday. LMK
