KTMrad 516 Posted January 22, 2011 Ahhhh, the benefits of owning a high-tech Adventure Bike......but I still love it ! In my opinion, the 950 is worth it. (not that a Beemer and parts for one would be any cheaper) starter parts went out on it......... ignition rotor $575 freewheel gear $125 other various gaskets, etc. Valve adjustment swapping out the JB welded, hydraulic clutch line with new one fix minor oil leak new plugs replace turn signal new rear brake pads Total labor 6 hours........ Total cost with my discount approximately $1400. I'm having Paul Lima at GP Motorcycles work on it, since they are now KTM Dealer. I know Paul and we've been friends for 17 years now and totally trust everything their shop does.
SocalCPA 0 Posted January 22, 2011 How many miles? Hoping that I will get more life out of mine, since I only ride it gently.
KTMrad 516 Posted January 22, 2011 How many miles? Just under 30,000 miles, and it's 7 years old.
TrophyHunter 15 Posted January 22, 2011 I know there might have been other minor things along the way that we all deal with, but that bill is only $200 per year. For a bike you really enjoy.....not a bad deal at all.
blind_in_1_ear 0 Posted January 22, 2011 now THAT is the attitude/perspective...i LOVE that, Ken, def a sweet morning eye opener! ...and now, off i go to evaluate skills of little league 8-12 yr olds...might take my helmet
KTMrad 516 Posted January 22, 2011 Yes Trophy, I agree, even if it costs $500 per year, that's worth it for a bike that gets ridden hard and has not let me down on my adventures (knock on wood). I could save money and work on it myself, but I need it back quickly and would rather have a pro work on it.
PastaPilot 17 Posted January 23, 2011 , but I need it back quickly .... That's all you had to say right there. Slacker.
