"street ride" - say what????

Hijack On: What about some dirt Trophy? It has been too long since we rode together and temperatures are good tomorrow. I can ride in the morning. My records show you have not been to Acorn, Pala, or Amago this year. Otay is also on my to-do list with PastaPilot. Live Oaks Park has its grand opening this weekend - 2 miles south of Golden Acorn Casino.

I initially thought about dirt.....EARLY....before the heat and crowds. The all day festivities at Casa de Trophy & cooking for 30 while my pool got emptied by cannonballs has left me with a polluted, "wanna sleep in a bit" feeling.

I'm doin' the street....lurkers welcome....I will check Starbucks at 9:30 (there are 3 in Rancho SD so if you're comin', check the address). I will lead whomever lurks/shows ready to ride at 9:30 (K, let's be honest, I'll wait 'til 9:31 :D )

Post up Shock & we'll see how the timing works. Oh, and your records are correct ;)

Hope everyone had a great 4th!

Felt good to take the BEE out of the hive for a bit.

Thanks again,

I think TH took a picture.

But it DID happen- my bike is still panting in the garage after playing with the BigBoy sportbikes. It's pulse will likely remain elevated for a few days.

makes you glad it wasn't a "spirited ride" or a "fast ride", only an intermediate...

I am feeling motivated... I'll take the Crest route home from work today

JapatulJuly52009003.jpg

A sorta shady rest stop with Mike the BEEkeeper being the smartest. FN, Michelle, Spyder & Mr. Crisis.

JapatulJuly52009004.jpg

We shared the road....and so did they.

I arrived at Starbucks just before FN and he arrived radio'd up....back to the house for comm gear.

76 Miles from the Starbucks & back so much more for those that didn't start two blocks from their house :) Sunny, clear & not too warm if we were moving. We took Willow Glen to Dehesa, (see above route) until we got to the East end of Chula Vista.

At Dehesa & Japatul, I waived the anxious & wound up liter bikes to the front with plans to stop at the turn points. Chad, Mike & WTH...a 525....essssscuuuuuuuuze me....540 (with a lightened supercrank, Mr Bill light, etc) after 'em like there's a free camera at the finish line. Again....WTH! I saw those tires at the Starbucks (LE radio in the tailbag, check...1st aid kit, check)...now, let's see where the first corner is. FN: "I'm a liter bike...weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! ) :o

Evidently, the KTM pilot was equipped with knobbies, too. Testicularies, that is. (correct plural...look it up) :)

I did my best to keep up with Michelle on her V-Strom riding sweep after trading duties with the now disappearing Fakey. As we approached the long right hand sweeper that seems as it will never end, I saw three rockets on the incline out of the corner with about 30 feet between 'em. Chad later said he wondered who was behind him and couldn't discern what bike was behind the wierd light in his side mirror. Something resembling "no way" went through his brain.

There was a multi colored light thing that kept changing from red to green to yellow at the "end" of Otay Lakes Rd.

It was a unamimous eyelook in the group.....Deja Vu Route. We flipped a U-Turn and saw Otay Lakes from a new direction along with Honey Springs. Hmmm, stop signs......left...on the super switchback section of Lyons Valley. Via radio from the stop sign "left or right" from Paul. "Left is more corners, right is Jamul Truck Trail" Left it is.

More corners, some pebbles (DG) on a few for excitement. Jamul Drive back into RSD. Spyder & Hoss headed home and the remainder helped empty my coolers of soft drinks, dipped in the guac, hot sauce, humus dip, etc. Paul left before Laura broke out the freshly cooked brownies.

Great ride, outstanding company, no injuries. All good.

I now know why FN sold his Sumo tire set....I can't imagine how fast he'd be with those things.

Mods: My computer must be too old, I can't upload the new Acrobat so Photobucket won't let me edit. If you need to kill the photos, plz PM me and I'll send 'em to someone who can edit. Computer shopping...oddly...online.

It was very nice meeting the new faces, and always good to hang out with Ken. Thank Laura for the yummy brownies again. Michelle had a great time too.

FakeName did a great job demonstrating that the equipment (namely tires) we run on our bikes often have much more capability than we give them credit.

I also got some drool on Hoss's FZ1 Bee. Sorry Hoss. Hot dang! That's a fine looking machine!

Hope to do it again.
