Any experience with Motul 7100 ester based oil?

Recommended Posts

Cheers all,

Has anyone used Motul 7100 4T 15W-50 or other weights of this ester base engine oil?

It's not cheap but 2 quarts per change isn't so bad if it's great oil.

For what it’s worth, that’s what I run in the Multistrada 950’s if I’m the one putting oil in. I’ve trusted Motul for a long time, ran this stuff in my 800GSA, and used to run 300v in my GSX-R 750 and it was always running well.

It is up there with stuff like AmsOil and such.
I have run it in the past, but use AmsOil exclusively after having two cases of water pump failures in KTM 950's dumping coolant into the oil and it not turning into a milkshake.
Happened to me in the bay area, rode back to LA, adding nearly 4 liters of water to the coolant on the trip home, the oil was able to burn off the water instead of turning into a milk shake.

That's why I became a dealer to get it at cost for myself and members of this forum.

Thanks @beniflas my 390 ADV manual says 15W-50. I've been using Mobil 1 15W-50 before reading on Bob's the Oil Guy that Motul is ester based (more pure I guess).
