dirt dame 559 Posted May 11, 2020 I didn't get out until about noon, and had no plan or idea about where I might go. Just geared up and rolled out of the driveway, then hopped onto the freeway headed south. Too much freeway later, I started to formulate a few ideas, and just sort of followed each idea as I entertained it. Off the freeway in El Cajon, south on Jamacha to a road that led me (via a few other roads) to Lyon's Valley road. This is a very nice and scenic road which I'm not sure I have been on before, or at least not in decades. Then I ended up on Japatul road which I took out to Descanso, and took the lefthand turn to Julian, and rode through Cuyamaca. At Julian, I took a little detour out to Farmers road, and then back to the main route down to Santa Ysabel. Then I went over to Mesa Grande and took that route over to Lake Henshaw. Tons of bikers down at Josie's Hideout....looked like a scene from prior times with big Harleys lining both sides of the pavement. I skipped Palomar since I had such a late start, and headed down the grade to Rincon.... or Funner. Not sure funner than what. Certainly not funner than my ride, anyway. Passed by another ghost casino at Valley View, and Lake Wohlford, where the gates were finally opened to the public. Then home again. 160 miles, and a lovely day of temperate, partly cloudy weather. Perfect conditions.
