goat gearing? What's that? Just kidding haha what size sprocket are you running on that dr? I'm trying to decide what sprocket to get; they're available from 37 to 70 tooth lol I can't decide. There are pros and cons of each size. 70 would be fun for tooling around/walking the bike up hills at idle, power wheelies etc. lol but I'm not sure I want another moped...42 best for street but renders second gear completely useless off road. 60 prob best for off road(lots of power in second gear at just over 20 mph for hill climbs)...ok I'm rambling sorry I tend to do that I'm unaturally obsessed. so your sprocket is??

If you opt to go with Papa's suggestion you might want to consider using the track I posted in this thread:

yeah, like i said, ive never been there so i dont know what it will be like.

since its exploratory for me, perhaps i should go by myself.

all the other rides ive led have been on terrain ive ridden many times.

im hoping to find something new. if i get in over my head, ill just turn around and find another route.

not looking for a "NUTCRACKER" but i want to ride something more challenging than fire roads.

Suggestion - Park at Hixon and ride up Hixon and down Allessandro (easier direction).......then make the call on whether you want to ride back up Allesandro and down Hixon......

Likewise, the single track heading up from Bautista towards Thomas Mtn is also fun......if you don't care for it, back track to the fireroad and head up that way (bypassing the single track)

Same deal heading away from JoAnn's in Idyllwild......the single track is a blast.....but if you don't care for it, bypass it on the control road.....

Many options....

Everything you want to know about Hixon/Allesandro can be found in the thread below......there's also a REALLY GOOD link to a report/pics from Thumpertalk embedded in the thread

Thats a (Cake Walk) One of the best trails around. 3 miles of Broken down, overheated KTM's.

I remember it like it was yesterday! :D I was glad I was on a Big Reliable (air cooled) Powerhouse.

Best 3 miles of the OC. Duallies charity ride.

Craig.

Saturday the 22nd we should be here Supporting off roading.

We can do a ride after.

I agree. Spend your morning supporting your right to ride the trails you're intending to ride. The group going to the meeting is planning to ride afterwards. No big loss on the day, all win. I'd be there but I have to work this weekend.

The only time I've laid the pig down (so far) was riding down and off camber switchback on Mount Thomas which was covered with a couple inches of snow and then solid ice...the backend slowly slid downhill, sideways, the frontend did not  It balanced on the left cylinder and made wierd snow angels as it did 360's until I could catch it after a couple revolutions  I was standing on the pegs, so I just gradually stepped off the bike as it left me, no harm done, it was wierd, kind of slow motion. Nice view up there, you can see the whole valley and listen to Kevin's stories I think he makes up on the spot :D

Sorry for my ignorance. But is this a dualsport ride or regular bike?

Christi- I'm not positive, but I think you need a plate...which around here is "regular bike"

My bike is fixed...now I need to know if this ride is still happening? I can be at the staging area at 10 if it is.
