PbdBlue 46 Posted August 6, 2014 IMO it's more accurate to set the TPS using the 5 volt power coming from the ECU since that's what the bike uses when operating.
Bagstr 288 Posted August 6, 2014 Ha! Just "adjusted" the TPS free-hand to middle of range. Started immediately from cold without choke. The bike has never started from cold without choke. D This was a clockwise rotation, which is contrary to the ADVrider ex-pert. Test ride to follow.
Bagstr 288 Posted August 7, 2014 Further adjustment and test rides. Middle of range = off idle hesitation. Rotated a schooch counter clock from mid-range = smooth running. I will see how it starts from cold Thursday.
Crawdaddy 96 Posted August 7, 2014 Went over to Jim's (Amgem's) last night with my bike. Idle was a bit high. TPS was around 5.80 as opposed to the 6.01 +/- .04 spec. Reset both (idle first then TPS). Bike was still hesitant to start when cold late last night but it did finally turn over without having to kick it. Need to take it out for a test ride to see if it'll hold a smooth idle in gear without stalling......that's been a problem lately....

Try it again with a fully charged battery. Couldn't hurt to replace your fuel filter too. If no improvement send out injector for cleaning. I did notice the not so smooth idle. And it seemed slow cranking too. http://hurstinjectorservice.com/ http://fuelinjectorman.com/fuelinjectorcleaning.html http://www.proflowtech.com/ http://www.ebay.com/itm/Fuel-Injector-Service-KTM-Motorcycles-and-Motorbikes-/190611463786 http://injector-rehab.com/shop/home.php I believe one or more of these places is discussed on KTM Talk. I think it is proflowtech.

Chad 0 Posted August 8, 2014 Have you all filed your TPS reports yet? I wondered how long it would take for a reference to "TPS reports" to come out! I think about it every time I type TPS...
Chad 0 Posted August 11, 2014 Chad Any sign of the Eastern Beaver. Parts compatable. I ready to place order. Tnx Bags, Received my EB shipment at work over the weekend. Haven't had the opportunity to test fit the plugs, but I'm pretty certain these are the correct plugs after looking over the harness I used to set my TPS a couple weeks back. I'll let you know if there are any issues with fit later tonight. Here's what I received with my order: Here's my invoice with part no's. The connectors are the Yazakis. I ordered extra terminals for the inevitable crimping flub. Ordered July 29th. Received August 9th. 11 days in transit. Let me know if you have any questions... Chad 0 Posted August 12, 2014 Test fit the plugs last night (without the terminls/pins). Perfect fit. Now just need to get to crimping...
Bagstr 288 Posted August 12, 2014 Thank You Chad. We will see how long my order takes. They must have been out of stock. Dave

Bagstr 288 Posted August 23, 2014 TPS REPORT Chads' part #s are correct as above. Hey, I made the first jumper and read the idle output voltage. Freehand Adjustment = .467 vdc Plus, although it started well the first morning, subsequently took 4 trys on choke to start. Not Success! On my $60 Ideal meter @ 603 vdc starts immediately w/o choke when hot.. Reading on Millivolt scale PS - My RMS Fluke screen is taking a dive!! I will give it a go Saturday AM
Bagstr 288 Posted August 24, 2014 Final Report: As you see, I assembled a sampling cable. Picked up thin wall 18ga stranded ( $5.70 ), Open Barrel Crimper ( $23 ) and decent stripper ( $16 ) at Willey's Electronics. Thanks PbdBlue. You will have a problem if you use std. construction wire and crimper. There is always a correct and incorrect way to assemble equipment. After fooling around, you realize the connector open side points to the catchy thing in the body. My first set I installed two wires in two of the pins. It works, but the pin is not sized for two wires. The " technician" will be measuring the two outside conductors. I installed the inside butt-splice because of talk about 5vdc input. May not be needed as I only measure OL to that point. The cost to make 3 sets is $82, but you keep the tools and wire plus the fun of DIY is priceless! Tuning As stated earlier, "freehand" you get what you pay. Nada! Mine is set to .605vdc. No back-fire on deceleration, smooth throttle. From cold, almost wants to start. Instant with choke. After morning choke start, it started several times without choke. Always Fun to learn how to perform a task and improve performance. Thanks to Chad, PbdBlue and Amgems for your assistance! PbdBlue 46 Posted August 25, 2014 Nice work. Be sure and set your idle speed before the TPS as adjusting the idle will change the tps setting.
Chad 0 Posted August 28, 2014 Nice work, Bagstr. I have yet to assemble my harnesses... I thought you knew EB shipped from Japan, otherwise I would have let you know. I learned the minute my shipping on $9 of merch (below his minimum order) was approx. $900.00! HA! Glad you got the bike dialed in!
Bagstr 288 Posted October 29, 2014 Upon further testing, i.e. churning up Blowsand, I can report better low rev torque.
MattFL 0 Posted September 4, 2015 I ran across the gizmo below in a YouTube vid. It's used to accurately set the voltage on the throttle position sensor (TPS) on the throttle body of my KTM 350 XCF-W. Because I tore the whole thing down to give it a good cleaning, I want to be able to reset the TPS properly. The harness is available on the internet for $36, but I'd rather make it up myself, IF I can find the appropriate parts. I've somewhat scoured the net and have had no luck finding what I think I need.<.... SNIP.....> <.....SNIP.....> Hey all, cool thread! I just want to give a little credit to these pictures from the first post, they are originally from my web site and I'm glad they were helpful here. I'm a big supporter of do-it-yourselfers, I'm a do-it-yourself guy myself! But for those guys who don't want to do this particular thing yourself, you can pick these up at my web site: www.tpstool.com . BTW, I'm insanely jealous of all the riding areas you guys have over there on the West Coast, I might have to move across the country and join you!
