Any recommendations?

Recommended Posts

My coworkers and I are heading out on friday morning for three days of "team building" socal street riding style. I've got our approximate route mapped out but I thought I'd ask the pros If we're missing anything good that can be incorporated into our 300 mile days. Any advice on the route, food stops, or hotels is welcome! What do you vets got, what are we missing besides dirt (dudes with nice street bikes don't like dirt)?

about 300 mile 6 hour ride time a day

day one (friday may 9th) -

Day three (sunday 11th) -

Hmm.

Day three.

I love riding motorcycles, but would prefer to stick a hot needle in my eye than ride the 101. Especially when some of California's best riding is nearby. Hop back up 101 to the 58- go east then south to Cerro Noroeste. Yes, you'll have to go through Taft- the oily armpit of Southern California. But I'd ride up that far from HOME just to ride Cerro Noroeste.

Cerro Noroeste Is the awesomest road perhaps in the universe. 58 does not suck for most of the way either.

In fact, I'd ride back up all the way to Hollister to pick up Peach Tree Road to Indian Valley Road THEN south to get the 58 to Cerro Noroeste.

It's that good.

No kidding.

Day 3. Right turn onto 101 toward Buelton to EB 246 to Solvang. http://www.tripadvisor.com/Tourism-g33103-Solvang_California-Vacations.html

Unique Danish town with great Aebleskiver (apple pastry) and Danish dishes.

Continue EB 246 back to your planned route. Or just do an out & back on 246 from your main route.

Edit: don't know if this works with PMB's rec.

You know it's all street, right? I mean, I'd dig it, ride up to about Salinas/Gilroy, then back. I'd put a set of street tires on for that!

In the fall?

I would slightly amend day 3 as follows:

Day 3 to malibu

The Cerro Noreste-Lockwood Valley-33 segment is 80 miles of amazing road. 33 is fast, smooth, and pavement like a wood rasp.

I would amend the day 2 end like this:

Day 2 end

46 on the route you have gets a lot of traffic, and 1 right there isn't very interesting, and the coast will be freezing cold.

Day 1 has a lot of freeway/straight line miles. I would do this:

Day 1

If you haven't ridden Angeles Crest- it is amazing.

Agree with all.
