Ben 0 Posted April 3, 2014 Just got offered 17" front and rear wheel sets. Front is excel and rear is warp 9. Both talon hubs. All for $650. What you guys think?
Wintyfresh 49 Posted April 3, 2014 With sprocket/rotor/rubber, or just the wheels themselves?
Ben 0 Posted April 3, 2014 Rear warp 9(sprocket 47 tooth, rotor) front excel (just wheel, hub, tire)
Oracle 206 Posted April 3, 2014 Yes, that is a good deal. If the rear hub is a cush hub, it's even a better deal. Retail of that set up is probably over $1000. You can add an oversized front rotor kit for about $200 and have a nice SM set up.
paulmbowers 236 Posted April 4, 2014 The money is ok, but you need to decide if a sumo setup is right for you. I had one for The Beast (see 565 thread) and I sold them right away- I knew I'd lose my license riding the streets with that much hp and that much traction. RobATK94 1 Posted April 4, 2014 I'd jump on it! For that price if you hate it you can make a few bucks reselling them. Talon hubs alone could be worth more than 650 if they are in good shape.
97xr400r 122 Posted April 4, 2014 I found my set on CL, rad wheels and hubs with the same brake rotor as in this kit with half used avons. $650 I was a happy camper. As Paul points out, It transforms your bike in a startling way... you can out corner a sportbike in the tight stuff (then dip out and go flat tracking in the dirt). I had to reflect after my first ride, decided to think of it as a 0-70mph sportbike (beter than 150mph right?) . The real trick is keeping the front end on the ground in the city, they really are to much fun, you wouldn't like it... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4-bW_w4RpV4&list=PL061D914B66D2A0AF&index=
RobATK94 1 Posted April 4, 2014 Oh yeah, some words of wisdom I was told when I setup my ktm with sumo wheels. Always carry enough cash to bail yourself out of whatever bind you WILL be getting into. You can easily find yourself doing some of the craziest things without even breaking the speed limit.
